He's also been highly critical of democracy in any form believing it is immoral in not allowing total self-representation. That begs the question of why the hell he even told people to vote for Ron Paul or why he's ran, and will plan to run when out of prison, as a political candidate expecting people to vote for him. if he really believes that using democracy to elect new leaders is wrong then Kokesh is doing a shitty job teaching what he preaches. The revealers

Adam Kokesh is an American libertarian anti-war activist and radio host. His radio show, Adam Versus The Man, focuses on American and international current affairs from a libertarian perspective. Kokesh also occasionally discusses conspiracy theories and has had some conspiracy theorists on his show, including Mark Dice and Luke Rudkowski; Kokesh does not seem to fully embrace their ideas. However, he is a 9-11 truther.

Kokesh was a corporal in the United States Marine Corps Reserve.

Kokesh supported Ron Paul for president, and has been greatly critical of President Barack Obama's questionable human rights record. He also calls for an end to all of America's war efforts.

In April 2013, Kokesh announced on Alex Jones' radio show that he was planning a mass armed rally in Washington DC, to be held on Independence Day[1]. Despite Jones' claim that the protest's aim would be a "government overthrow", Kokesh explained that he and his supporters will be merely engaging in this protest as a means to show peaceful dissent at the Obama government, and that the firearm bearing would merely be a symbolic gesture expressing support of the Second Amendment, which he believes Obama is in the process of repealing. Kokesh later announced on his radio show that this rally would be put forward to 2014.

Kokesh was held in custody for three months as a result of deliberately violating Washington D.C. laws by carrying and loading a firearm on July 4, 2013, and for the possession of cannabis and hallucinogenic mushrooms. [2] He was released from prison in November 2013 after pleading guilty on condition that he does not possess weapons of any kind and reports to authorities on a weekly basis[3]

Conspiracy theories

Kokesh's plan for a march on D.C, his subsequent arrest, his desire to end the government and, most especially, his Jewish background [4] have resulted in a brand new batch of conspiracy theories. Some of the most common include the standard anti-semetic paranoia that he's in league with the Zionist elites to establish a one-world order.[5]

These are absolutely untrue. Besides his militant anti-government stance, Kokesh, despite his upbringing, is now an atheist. His unbelief is one reason behind his very critical attacks on religion and institutions including the Roman Catholic Church. Kokesh is also very anti-Zionist due to his very critical views of Israel: the root of many Zionist related conspiracy theories. He once went so far as to call America "Israel's bitch" due to what he considers the government's unbiased favoritism towards Israel's interests and aiding in helping it achieve very questionable objectives.[6]

Other equally if not more ignorant theories decry Kokesh to be a communist.[7]. This is laughable and is a theory created due to a blatant lack of understanding his views and because those who support the theory have a dislike of his anti-war activism often resulting in him helping very anti-war groups. Kokesh definitely is not a communist as he has been a long-time supporter of laissez-faire capitalism: something genuine communists abhor, vilify and resist. Kokesh has also vocally derided many other political philosophies not adhering to Libertarianism. Communism has on occasion gotten the blunt end of a verbal beating from him.

Speaking of viewpoints

Kokesh has identified himself as an anarcho-capitalist[8] and has many times espoused the extreme wingnuttery often associated with it. The most common things he has vocally supported are free market anarchism, unregulated gun ownership and goldbuggery. The latter he's especially attracted to being himself the owner of Agorist Metals: a precious metal store catering to worshipers of pieces of shiny metal.

Kokesh is a vocal opponent of accredited environmental science. As a member of the climate change denialist club, he refuses to accept that humanity is having a negative effect on the climate.[9] Due to his extreme anarchistic beliefs, Kokesh turns it up to 11 in believing there should be absolutely no government regulations in dealing with the issue as well as any protecting the environment. After all the invisible hand of the market's done a great job so far, why let anything get in its way?

Kokesh's views also swing slightly to the left due to his beliefs in the left leaning Libertarian philosophy of agorism. These are no less disturbing as well especially since Kokesh is completely opposed to laws created and enforced by the government. His total belief that the only valid laws are natural rights has caused Kokesh to raise a lot of eye brows with his beliefs.

He's also been highly critical of democracy in any form believing it is immoral in not allowing total self-representation. He's made negative comments especially about voting and how democracies use the process to impose leaders on people who should be leading themselves. Then again he might just like democracy more than he lets on.[10]

A hypocritical "anarchist"

Kokesh most infamous beliefs regard the constitution. Kokesh has stated that it should be called an "anti-freedom" document[11] and called its enactment a "step back from freedom." Kokesh followed by saying his ideal America is the "freer" pre-constitutional one. Because slavery, mob rule and indentured servitude are what true liberty is about you know.

Kokesh is not consistent with this belief though as the constitution has been used by Kokesh to justify his protests, defense in court and generally trying to help him remain outside of prison.

A recent example of this behavior was at his hearing on October 24, 2013 in regards to his deliberate arming of a firearm at Washington D.C at Freedom Plaza. Kokesh not only plead not guilty to the charges against him but defended his actions by citing the supreme court decision's in D.C. v. Heller that found the banning of firearms in Washington D.C. unconstitutional. Of course he took the ruling out of context to justify it is legal to open carry a loaded firearm in the state. [12]

Considering the Supreme Court's decisions are part of how the laws in the constitution are to be interpreted, it boggles the mind as to why an anarchist who hates the constitution would use it in his defense. Anarchists are generally opposed to man-made laws and especially the legal documents they originate from instead believing the only true laws are natural laws: something Kokesh claims he says are the only valid laws.

If that is true, the only logical choice he could make as an anarchist is use natural law as a defense for his behavior. Yet Kokesh doesn't do that. His track record instead shows he has constantly used laws he says he rejects as fiat to defend his behavior. This is blasphemy in almost all branches of anarchist philosophy not to mention to its adherents.

Kokesh has attempted to justify this contradictory behavior saying he uses the constitution to establish his brand of right-wing anarchism. For that Kokesh deserves credit: he's honest enough to admit being a total hypocrite and using laws he supposedly rejects to further his goals of an anarcho-capitalist paradise. However this would mean he's not a truly genuine anarchist. Therefore his claims that he is an anarchist are frivolous.[13]

The cherry on the cake

Kokesh plead guilty to charges of drug possession and violating firearm laws at his November 2013 trial. This plea was made in exchange for a far more lenient punishment. What is worth mentioning is that Kokesh has, in doing so, broken a promise he made in a letter sent from prison that he'd do his utmost to make an example of the government when his case went to court. As the case was folded due to his guilty plea, the trial never technically began in order for him to make a defense and example of the big, bad state. Kokesh therefore broke his promise.[14] So much bravery and convictions, eh?

Stopped clock

Kokesh has on rare occasions supported reasonable things. He is a staunch advocate of gay rights, and is highly critical of anyone opposing them, especially those who are against gay marriage. The wisdom of his view that the state shouldn't play any role in marriage is debatable.[15]

Kokesh also is adamantly opposed to the "War on Drugs," and believes that all laws regulating drugs should be repealed. He has posted videos of himself consuming illegal drugs in order to inspire civil disobedience against drug laws.

But his biggest stop clocking comes as a result of his negative experiences as a soldier in the Iraq War. Adam is, excusing the pun, militant in his hatred of war and extreme militarism to the point he puts other notable anti-war Libertarians to shame including Lew Rockwell. Adam is especially opposed to armed intervention to countries he holds should fight their own conflicts with other societies who aren't in immediate danger avoiding altogether. He has saved his harshest attacks for the U.S. military calling its behavior and policies immoral which have done more harm than good. He has fiercely supported and advocated anti-war groups including Iraq Veterans Against the War of which he is a member of.[16]
