Denial of the victim describes the attempt to escape responsibility by asserting that the perpetrator is the "real victim" who has suffered an injustice, usually by claiming the actual victim responsible. Classically this is the rapist claiming his victim was "asking for it" by, for example, wearing a short skirt. This is a specific instance of neutralization.
