“”As I recall, it only took us one night to be rid of 90% of them.

On the morning of May 16, 2007, a mighty ax befell upon the heads of many so-called "editors" at Conservapedia. This incident has come to be known among RationalWikians as the Great Purge, or Night of the Blunt Knives.

The Great Purge
On the night that shall remain infamous, The Knife wielded his bloody sword of retribution on more than just random vandals and sock puppets.
Over the course of one night, the following recognizable "real" editors were expunged from the fetid swamp that is Conservapedia (several others sustained 1 to 2 weeks blocks, a minor insult by comparison with decapitation):
19:10, 15 May 2007 Karajou (Talk | contribs) blocked "MiddleMan (contribs)" with an expiry time of infinite (user fully intends to push his liberal agenda, no matter what we say, as cited on my talk page[1], main page, and within his contributions in general.)
21:00, 15 May 2007 Karajou (Talk | contribs) blocked "SpeakerOfTheDead (contribs)" with an expiry time of 1 week (user was told to end the debate on my talk page[2], and he refused.)
00:00, 16 May 2007 TK (Talk | contribs) blocked "Jrssr5 (contribs)" with an expiry time of 1 week (Restoring Sysop Deleted Page 2 Mark with Speedy Deletion Template/Vandalism)
02:09, 16 May 2007 TK (Talk | contribs) blocked "Comatoseraccoon (contribs)" with an expiry time of infinite (sock)
06:02, 16 May 2007 TK (Talk | contribs) blocked "Commandment9 (contribs)" with an expiry time of infinite (Sock)
06:21, 16 May 2007 TK (Talk | contribs) blocked "Rob Pommer (contribs)" with an expiry time of infinite (sock/vandal)
06:53, 16 May 2007 TK (Talk | contribs) blocked "Sterile (contribs)" with an expiry time of infinite (sock/vandal)
06:57, 16 May 2007 TK (Talk | contribs) blocked "Leopeo (contribs)" with an expiry time of infinite (sock vandal)
07:01, 16 May 2007 TK (Talk | contribs) blocked "JLindon (contribs)" with an expiry time of infinite (Sock and Vandal)
07:51, 16 May 2007 TK (Talk | contribs) blocked "JoyousOne (contribs)" with an expiry time of infinite (sock puppet) [ed. note, well, ok, JoyousOne was a puppet...]
09:49, 16 May 2007 TK (Talk | contribs) blocked "Tims (contribs)" with an expiry time of infinite (sock vandal)
10:03, 16 May 2007 TK (Talk | contribs) blocked "Ian St John (contribs)" with an expiry time of infinite (sock of erasmus/perseus)
10:32, 16 May 2007 TK (Talk | contribs) blocked "Timppeli (contribs)" with an expiry time of infinite (Vandal/Icewedge buddy)
10:38, 16 May 2007 TK (Talk | contribs) blocked "Human (contribs)" with an expiry time of infinite (Sock/Vandal/Icewdg gang)
11:33, 16 May 2007 TK (Talk | contribs) blocked "WWillis (contribs)" with an expiry time of infinite (ice)
11:35, 16 May 2007 TK (Talk | contribs) blocked "Jtl (contribs)" with an expiry time of infinite (ice)
And just to make things look wholesomely community oriented, Koukoukajou joined in:
12:58, 16 May 2007 Karajou (Talk | contribs) blocked "ColinR (contribs)" with an expiry time of infinite (just plain stupid!)
Never in the history of mankind's ceaseless quest for knowledge has such stupidity been performed by such an idiot in such short time.
Some may wonder, did The Knife get some "inside information"? Actually, I don't think he is that smart. But he is that paranoid. I think he snapped, and just took advantage of the constant sniping and confusion that is the administrative process on CP to eliminate all his least favorite editors.
Latecomers to the List
Here are a few more that have followed:
17:37, 16 May 2007 TK (Talk | contribs) blocked Flippin with an expiry time of infinite (cabal)
17:41, 16 May 2007 Karajou (Talk | contribs) blocked "Favor (contribs)" with an expiry time of infinite (Don't need you)
19:32, 16 May 2007 RobS (Talk | contribs) blocked Horace with an expiry time of infinite (vandal and troll)
04:13, 17 May 2007 TK (Talk | contribs) blocked AmesG with an expiry time of infinite (ice)

04:43, 17 May 2007 TK (Talk | contribs) blocked SeanTheSheep with an expiry time of infinite (sock/troll)
Burning the evidence
In the early stages of the purge, hoping to take advantage of the early time of the day, The Knife also attempted to destroy valuable records of complaints against fellow Sysop Conservative: [1] [2] [3]. Fortunately, he was not successful, so these valuable materials could be preserved.

I thought it was you doing a sycophant righty, posting to TK and Ashfly's talk pages within minutes of creating their account. (And, no, I don't remember the user:name.) ~~ Cracker 20:18, 28 May 2007 (CDT)

In Memoriam
Dis Moribus (to the spirits of the dead) Linus, Human, Horace, Jssr5, Tims, etc., you will be missed.-AmesGyo! 21:27, 16 May 2007 (CDT)
- Thanks, but it looks like you got sheared, too, Ames! Huw Powell a/k/a human 12:30, 17 May 2007 (CDT)
- It took me about 3 days, but I was resurrected here ... kinda eerie! Jrssr5 00:20, 26 May 2007 (CDT)
Addendum
Some of my favorite socks are still active on CP. I won't name names, but "3rd Reich" and "Abuse" are still very active. The latter may be a sysop soon--and just for the hell of it, this is a great page on cp [4] Zero 11:01, 18 May 2007 (CDT)
- Unfortunately, the page cited just above (Stephen Garaas) got deleted. Anyone have a cached copy, or know how to get one? When they delete edits without destroying the entire page plus history, we can still point to it (see "Burning the evidence", above), but for really embarrassing things, they nuke everything. BTW, I have several other examples in my files of burning the evidence; a whole page should be written about it. I also have one case of nuking everything; thank Deity for the Google cache!
