Ask Young Earth creationists what they think about dinosaurs, and they'll probably fall into one of two camps. The first camp, the denialists,[1] denies that dinosaurs ever existed and the fossils were put there by Jesus or something to test our faith. The second camp,[2] which seems to be the "mainstream" amongst creationists, is that Flintstonists, who, like the TV show they are named after, believe in human-dinosaur coexistence, i.e., that since humans have been around since the beginning of time, they necessarily coexisted with dinosaurs. They believe that dinosaurs are mentioned in the Bible (e.g., the Behemoth from Job, dragons). Many of them also claim that dinosaurs aren't extinct and that there were recent findings of dinosaurs in the remote places of Earth. An example is Kent Hovind who believes that todays lizards are dinosaurs that have lost the genes for largeness.[3] The more insane believe that dinosaurs are Satan's own creation.[4][5]

It should be noted that some people who believe in human-dinosaur coexistence are not creationists; but simply ignorant and believed what they saw on The Flintstones. The cure for this is simple: education.[6] Or maybe not. In 2012, it leaked out that fundamentalist Christian textbook publishers would begin issuing textbooks that would claim that the Loch Ness Monster is real. These would be used by Christian schools and homeschoolers to promote denialism of the theory of evolution. One critic believed that they would be used in at least thirteen American states.[7]
