Informed consent is Velcro on your garden variety slippery slope.
Informed consent is the ability to say "yes" to something potentially dangerous, risky, or just plain fun, having been made fully aware of the risks. It is a critically important matter in many fields of endeavor, including sex, medicine, politics, real estate, business, and even athletics.
A lot of conservatives have great troubles with the concept; for example, former senator Rick Santorum's assertion that Lawrence v. Texas would lead to "man-on-dog" sex, neglecting the fact that most people are agreed that bestiality is wrong because a dog cannot meaningfully consent to sex with a human being.
Informed consent is also the biggest enemy known of scammers.
