Neil deGrasse Tyson is an astrophysicist and a vocal public champion of science. He survived public schools before going on to earn a BA in physics from Harvard and a PhD in Astrophysics from Columbia.[1]

Tyson is currently the host of the show NOVA scienceNOW on PBS, which discusses recent topics in science.[2] He is scheduled to host a sequel to Carl Sagan's Cosmos: A Personal Voyage, which will broadcast in 2013.[3]
