I did not have a sexual conversation with that girl.
—NephilimFree impersonating Bill Clinton[1]

NephilimFree -real name Evan Philips[2]- runs a YouTube channel on which he posts anti-evolution rants that are stylistically reminiscent of the work of Conservapedia sysop Conservative. In fact, the two have mutually promoted each other within their respective corners of the clogosphere.[3] However, on or around November 26, 2010, the YouTube channel was mysteriously set to private, with no explanation forthcoming. Template:Infobox YouTube User His name is a reference to the Nephilim mentioned in the Bible, referring to the fact that he is "free" of the genetic and moral taint of the Nephilim. He apparently chose his name because he only has five fingers instead of six, and having six fingers would mean he was descended from fallen angels.[4] He seems to fail to realize that "nephilim" is only the plural - the way such phrases are usually constructed, his name really ought to be "NephilFree" - his name is the rough equivalent of "AliensFree."

In addition to being a fundamentalist, NephilimFree is a geocentrist, supporting an immobile earth that is the center of the universe.[5][6] But now Nephilimfree is rejecting that he ever called himself a geocentrist while accusing atheists as contriving up deceptive accusations.[7] Nephilimfree possibly rejected that he called himself a geocentrist out of fear of sounding insane for believing in such primitive beliefs. He's known for blocking other YouTubers from commenting on his channel just because they are atheists (or just because they disagree with him at all), and sending nonsensical legal threats to YouTubers who dare post videos critical of him (e.g. YouTuber "NephilimFreeFree" created a channel critical of Neph, and received multiple abusive emails from Neph, threatening to sue him and end his career in the military).

NephilimFree is unemployed and lives with a disabled friend, apparently mooching off her Social Security income.[8] Neph appears to do nothing in his free time other than eat, sleep, play on-line games,[9] and make YouTube videos.

Training

He apparently has no scientific training. According to him, he's an ex-professional photographer trained in the New York Institute of Photography.[5]

Otherwise, he's a self-proclaimed autodidact who studied on-line by looking at, mostly, YouTube videos for two years. During this time, he admits, he converted very quickly to creationism.

He has no training in theology either; it is God who told him to do YouTube videos about creationism.[10]

Beliefs

NephilimFree holds many bizarre and ridiculous beliefs.

He is first and foremost known as a young Earth creationist. He believes that all creatures were created by God, Noah's Ark and the global flood literally happened, Jesus rose from the dead, and many other Biblical stories. He believes the water that caused the Flood came from beneath the earth's crust, which burst through the rock due to pressure. So powerful was the blast, that the water escaped Earth's atmosphere, launched into space where it froze and hit the moon, causing all the craters on the moon's surface. On YouTube, this has been parodied as Neph's Lunar bukkake theory.

Nephilim is a geocentrist, believing the Earth to be the center of the universe. He has denied this, making it seem like it was an invention by "atheist punks."[11] However, several videos on YouTube explicitly show that Neph did indeed call himself a geocentrist[12], which has been compared to Ray Comfort's response when it was pointed out to him that his banana fallacy was complete bullshit.

NephilimFree believes in aliens, claiming God revealed the "truth" to him, but Neph thinks that aliens are fallen angels and that the Nephilim mentioned in the Bible were the hybrid offspring of aliens and human women. He describes there being three types (or "kinds") of aliens;

  1. the alien gray (mix of human and mantis hybrid)
  2. the reptilian alien (mix of human and reptile hybrid)
  3. the black dwarf alien (a mix of man and ape, possibly chimpanzee) (Note: Humans ARE apes by definition).

NephilimFree claims to have personally seen, engaged in contact, and experienced these creatures, and all the while describes himself "a sane, highly intelligent person with a grasp of reality" (but we will let you be the judge of that). Neph says the Bible describes these aliens, that they came to earth after being cast out of Heaven and bred with humans to create a population of giants. In the future, Neph says the aliens plan to come to earth and deceive us to take us to Hell. [13][14][15]

A certain video on YouTube showed that NephilimFree believes autism is a belief in Auts.[16]

Finally, Nephilim firmly believes in the End Times, coming soon. He is positive that the "Anti-Christ" will come one day, claim to be our savior and creator (people everywhere will fall for the lie), take control of the world and promote everything that is evil. Only the Christians will refuse to accept this character and his evil acts and lies, and in so doing all the Christians will be dragged from the streets and be executed. Neph believes this Anti-Christ will claim to be a higher intelligence from another world.[17]

Naughty Neph

In November 2010 he posted a video entitled "Thunderf00t Will You Chicken Out" in which he flicked between web pages inadvertently allowing his favorites to be viewed briefly. A video by YouTube user chattiestspike2 exposed a certain link in the list of Neph's favorites. Among them was a link to "San Francisco Independent Escorts in California". He quickly deleted the video and reposted it with the favorites re-edited and lied about the reason. YouTube users had already copied the video however and several of them quickly posted videos mocking or parodying him. [18]

Neph does have a history of excessive flirting, well, blurring the line between flirting and extremely creepy behaviour. In June 2011, a conversation between Neph and a female moderator in Shockofgod's chatroom was leaked, and a video was subsequently released and mirrored across YouTube - this was despite legal threats by NephilimFree to prevent the release of the information. The conversation was pretty lurid and, while slightly tame in content, merely imagining it as NephilimFree makes it cringe-worthy to watch. He likes to be petted, apparently.[1]

Debate with DonExodus2

NephilimFree challenged the atheist community to a debate. The criteria was that the user must have 1,000 subscribers (although he said in a later video that his original challenge was 2,000 subscribers[19] in an attempt to exclude many eligible candidates for a debate) and the debate would be on evolution and creationism. He accuses atheists of being unscientific and deny his evidence for creation. He does not stop there, accusing "evilutionists" as not allowing video responses and censorship (the irony here is that no "evilutionist" does this, as NephilimFree and his ilk screen every comment). Nephilim says the debate will be professional with no name-calling or insults (and yet afterward he calls people "chicken" and "coward") or ranting or loud shouts or any of the "behavior atheists are addicted to" (what about Shockofgod or Truthfulchristian?). He now presently requires the subscriber count to be equal or higher than his own, in order to give himself the advantage of offering challenges at will to anyone while filtering out most challenges issued to him.

In the summer of 2010, NephilimFree and YouTube rationalist DonExodus2 agreed to have a debate. NephilimFree, known to censor comments and block people, in this case censors himself. At first, Neph made it appear that no one had stepped forward to challenge him, making the atheist "evilutionists" look bad. Later in a series of videos, he explained the upcoming debated with DonExodus2, in which Neph gave permission for the debate to be on blogtv. However, Neph deleted the video and later said DonExodus2 was pressuring Neph to debate on blogtv instead of blogtalkradio. The original material was mirrored by user ozpoermo (channel). In a early video, Neph did say he would challenge an atheist to a debate on skype, but he later denied deleted the video and denied saying it. The same video did not specify who the moderator would be.

Neph also agreed to debate on certain aspect of evolution that the two agreed upon, but later says he never once agreed to narrow the debate and demanded the debate topic to be "Evolution vs. Creation" so he can discuss the scientific and philosophical aspects of it.

As for the moderator, NephilimFree claimed DonExodus2 insisted the moderator to be an atheist, but a clip from a skype message on May 28, a week before Neph's acquisitions, shows that DonExodus2 was openly willing, even promoted, that the moderator could be Jezuzfreek777 (a theist). Neph said Jezuzfreek777 would be a fine moderator, so it is clear Neph later lied that Don insisted the moderator should be an atheist. Don did suggest Thunderf00t to be the moderator, but Neph declined because "Thunderf00t studders when he gets excited."[20]

Nephilim invited shockofgod to be the moderator, so shock could record it on his radio show. Shock said in a video a "large" group of a thousand people will show up, but a video shows a mere 250 people tuned in.[21] Shockofgod, however, is known to be very rude, often interrupts, and drops people from the line on his show. Don suggested Dprjones to be the moderator, who has experience and very good. Neph refused to have dprjones be the moderator because he described him as "a guy who talks about human ejaculation and sexual practices in his videos." (This coming from a guy who secretly goes to escort sites.)

After such a hassle, NephilimFree made a video demanding DonExodus2 to make a video response to agree to debate Neph on his terms (on blogtalkradio, Shockofgod as moderator, creation vs. evolution topic, etc.) and have DonExodus post these terms on his channel at a specific time. When DonExodus2 did not respond, NephilimFree made a video proclaiming victory and calling DonExodus a chicken. The debate date was scheduled to be on June 6 at 4:00 PM. The truth is, NephilimFree was an hour late to his own debate. DonExodus2 was co-hosting a blogtv with the League of Reason with about 1,500 viewers prior to debate time, and when the time came for the debate with Nephilim they tuned in to blogtalkradio to watch, but Neph did not show. So Neph was lying the entire time about wanting to have a debate. It seems in a video by Shockofgod that the creationists seemed to know beforehand that they would back out and only meant to make the appearance that DonExodus2 would "miss out" to please their religious audience. [22] Shockofgod was called in several times before the debate time and was told that DonExodus was on blogtv at that time with 1,500 viewers, but Shock barely let the callers talk and made no attempt to steer his audience of 250 to go to the larger crowd.

In NephilimFree's absence, YouTube creationist Truthfulchristian stepped up to challenge the League of Reason.

Atheist YouTube user MikeLibertarian (channel) recorded the history of this challenge in a four-part series called "Nephilimgate." Shockofgod (shockofgod777, an impersonator?), in the comments section of the first and last videos, posted the following: "You have 48 hours to remove this video or I'll be doing it for you. Jesus loves you." MikeLibertarian never took down any of the videos, and they remain on Youtube to this day.

Is He Gone?

On 7/19/2011, NephilimFree's friend Micah1116 posted a video on both his and NephilimFree's accounts saying that his computer broke and he will not be able to post anymore. Micah appears to now have full control of NephilimFree's account as he has posted several comments using it. Multiple theories revolve around the absence of NephilimFree, other than the claim of a broken computer. One such theory is that NephilimFree's computer isn't really broken at all, but rather that he was kicked out of his roommates apartment, though no evidence has been found so far to support this.

After a few months later, Nephilimfree is back on Youtube and can be occasionally seen in shockofgod's chatroom. He made a video claiming that his computer crashed, but he quickly removed that video for some strange reason. His latest video can be found here.
