Prunus persica

Peaches are fruit which grow on a tree of the genus Prunus. They are considered both tasty and nutritious. If ingested, the pits are poisonous to cats and dogs. Peaches are rumoured to come from a can, where they are put by a man in a factory downtown. This is, in fact, often untrue for people who eat fresh peaches.

They also bruise easily. So whatever you do, don't put them in the bottom of the fruit bowl. Peach fuzz is an allergen for many people, and irritating to others; to this end a hairless cultivar called the nectarine has been developed. Nectarines are the horrible hairless mutant of the peach family. They are still delicious.

Some woomeisters think that an extract of peach pits can cure cancer. Other woomeisters are of the opinion that the previously mentioned woomeisters have confused the peach with the apricot.
