Russia, the largest country in the world in terms of land area, is commonly associated with the Soviet Union. There used to be lots of communism there, but Ronald Reagan shined a beam of awesomeness upon the country and everyone became a democratic capitalist (albeit autocratic democracy).
Their Lenin wasn't as musically talented as our Lennon.
Russia is home to many authors with unpronounceable names, such as Dostoevsky, Solzhenitsyn, and Sholokhov.
For a complete history of communist Russia, read Animal Farm.
It is common knowledge that in America, one might spend time looking for a party. In the Soviet Union, however, the party is always capable of locating said person.
U.S. President Bill Clinton spent some time studying in Russia as a yoot. Presumably economics.
Also, please remember that it all belongs to Mother Russia.
After experimenting with anarchy in the 1990s under Boris Yeltsin, Russia thanks too Vladmir Putin is an enlightened liberal democracy, which has reduced assassinations of journalists down to only two or three a year[1], and which doesn't cut off the gas supply every time a foreign country criticises it. One of their many favorite pastimes is subsisting in the delusion that NATO is out to get them, while NATO's favourite pastime is to find some purpose (read - enemy) for a military alliance without one.
Siberia
Siberia is the Asian portion of Russia ("portion" being two thirds of the country). It was notorious as the destination of prisoners of conscience exile within the Russian Empire and Soviet Union. And, beside that, the Western Siberia is a major source of oil and gas, while the Siberia in its entirety has almost every known resource, from timber to diamonds, to offer.
