Have a beer, I'd say. The only other thing I do in "bot mode" is click random page and make sure everything has sections so we're not faced with a wall of text for most articles.

Cool, beer it is. I actually managed to run out of meaningless tasks! :P

Also, if you want any mass re-categorising doing, let me know.

DalekEXTERMINATE19:21, 3 January 2011

I've spotted that there is some redundancy with the nav templates and categories; i.e., there's a category in the article even though it's already transcluded in a template. If you spot any (the current version of HotCat works excellently for this) remove them.

But then what will my bot do?

-- Nx / talk19:32, 3 January 2011

You have a bot that does that?

Scarlet A.pngd hominem19:33, 3 January 2011

Yey, a bot doing that would be good. How does this sound for a super action plan:

a) Decide on all our nav templates. b) I'll go on a massive janitor spree and make sure they're all on the right pages. c) Run superbot to clear out any unneeded cats?

Pywikipedia's category.py can do a bunch of stuff, including renaming a category.

Can't resist.

Couldn't someone write an extension or something similar that would let a sysop rename a category using ajax?

Elaboration:

  1. get the category members from the api
  2. for each, retrieve the wikitext, switch the old category name for new, get edittoken, save page
  3. mark all the edits as bot, or if you wanted to get fancy, make a new log for it

Good to see you there Blue, how're you doing? Nice Christmas and New Year?

DalekEXTERMINATE19:58, 3 January 2011

Very nice, thanks! But...

Yeah, I saw. Sorry to hear it, and sympathise with a lot of what you said about the place.
