So I'm not quite following the wiki as closely these days as I historically tend to. Also, please bear in mind that while I know there are folks around here who aren't fans of yours, I am not one of them--I wouldn't be your FB friend if I didn't think you were a pretty cool gal who cares about the wiki/has its best interests at heart and doesn't afraid of anything. That said, did you really think that bringing up the idea of allowing a limited number of people to use a big-gun sort of power wouldn't generate bad vibes and a huge flame war? Was there something going on leading up to that that justified bringing the topic up in the first place, and I just missed it?
Blue used it on me when she thought I was abusing Voxhumana and she created a warning every time I tried to edit. I took away her tech rights because she had no right to use it and now it seems Blue is trying to validate its use in future (while giving herself tech rights back again soon after).
Okay, at least now I know the context. Thanks.

It was a warning that appeared when he made edits to Voxhumana's talk page. I would not tout that as a successful example of the filter working - it was me using the filter to be lazy, as I was tired of Ace's and his frothy supporters' antics.
The topic needed to be brought up because we have no policy on how the filter can and should (not) be used. Flame wars only happen when people get really aggrieved, as Ace did this time, as I have done numerous times in the past.
Excellent, and it should not be used in the way you are suggesting.
And I would appreciate if we could have a rational discussion, agree to disagree, and then let the community decide in some kind of vote.
Alternatively, we can return to a system where consensus is never codified, rules are never enforced and, wheel/flame/edit wars are privileged above reasonable, rational discussion. That's a popular option favored by many here.
