How would you spell in romangie (I can't read kangi or either of the kana) for the "hi, i'm home" "welcome back" that you hear in Japanese. something like what I wrote as the subject line.

Thank you. We watched one of the saddest/happiest dramas titled "Okaeri". It was about a group of people who had all lost relatives in a crash, and who formed a new family together. so it was sad, and happy. but the title of the show was sooooo appropriate.

I've heard of it. I haven't had time to watch it yet. Watch 1 Litre of Tears. SO GOOD.

          Saw it.  :(

My favorite emotional shows was with Hiroshi Abe "Shiroi Haru". i LOVE "abe" (i thought that was his first name for the longest time, duh). and this one he's an ex con who goes out to reconnect with his 8 year old daughter who he had to leave to go to jail. it's sooooo emotional.  :-)

Awwww. I remember that! It was so good! But it kinda reminded me of the Korean Movie "My Father"...Just a tad bit. I also recommend this movie. Along with Tae-Guk-Ki.

Excuse me for barging in, but whilst you're on the subject, I've been neglecting my live-action Asian viewing lately. Last watched: Liar Game S1, Moyashimon, Linda Linda Linda (like an la K-On) and Nana to Kaoru (a gentle tale of &M between schoolkids... O_o). Want to have a look at Kimi ni Todoke, and desperately trying to find a sub of the amazing Yūnagi no machi, sakura no kuni (Town of Evening Calm, Country of Cherry Blossoms)

So... outside of that, what's worth tracking down?

                PsyGremlinSermā!11:39, 18 November 2011

Well~ I could go on a list really. But what kind of Asian durama? Korean, Japanese, Thai?

                  Dumpling (talk)11:45, 18 November 2011

Hmmm... I don't know T-drama at all, or K-drama either really (although I am a big fan of Korean horror movies - Red Shoes, Oldboy, Sympathy for Lady Vengeance etc), but I'm open to suggestions. I guess I have a bias towards J-drama, because I enough of a smattering of the language to follow most of the conversation, whereas with the others, I'm 100% reliant on the subs :)

I've also found this handy site for downloading too: http://doramax264.com

Hahaha. I don't watch Thai drama that often actually. But I'm mostly watching Korean/Japanese Dramas/Game shows. I always find them to be hilarious. Well, Have you seen Nodame Cantabile the Live Action series? I recommend that. It's pretty close to the original, and the acting is pretty good. You'll love the GYABOOOOO! Hahaha. Hotaru no Hikari was good as well. It all depends on the Genre you like. I'm more into the comedic/romance most of the time when it comes to the Japanese Dramas. Korean Drama is pretty good too, but again, depends on the genre you're looking for. Whenever I don't feel like downloading the series, I watch it on Mysoju.com. They have Japanese, Korean, and Thai movies and dramas.

Schweet!! I enjoyed the anime Nodame, so I'll def have a look at the live action too. Ooh, a live action Hotaru no Hikari? The Ghibli anime version was absolutely soul-crushing, I can imagine this would be too. I'll keep a box of tissues close at hand!! Not much into romance really, like a good comedy or drama. I'll have a look at the site too - arigatou!!

                        PsyGremlinSermā!12:38, 18 November 2011

YESSS! Anyways, Hotaru no Hikari is a comedy Drama. I think you're referring to Hotaru no Haka. BUT YES! That live drama movie is good as well! WATCH IT! WATCH IT ALL! BWAHAHAHAHAHA! And you're very much welcome. :D

YOu have not seen nodame? Ueno Juri is such a cute nodame.

I didn't really like the two Korean dramas we watched - they felt to my tastes, too popular and cultural and forced. a bit like my feeling about japanese historical drama (cant rememer its name).

Vic and I watch mostly cute romance/comedy genera (though the cop shows are really quite good, i am just not a cop show fan really). We watched "tumbling", which was great - but the subbers still have not done that last 2 shows, almost a year now. So that's really annoying cause it was fun. nothing this year was just "knock it out of the park" good - but given Japan's last year, that's not surprizing.

                            She's so adorable! I love her! :3

Which two Korean dramas were they? Because there a lot of them lately that I"m like: "Grr..." because they're trying to stay too cutesy and...Just no. I prefer there older Korean dramas like Winter Sonata or SandGlass...The oldies. Those were good. But there are a couple where I find interesting.

But yeah, this year nothing too great came out from Japan. Which is rather disappointing. D:

Grave of teh fireflies live and drama are *not* on my recomended list if you liked teh Ghibli version. they are just too "drama". something unique about the anime was the strange understatment that rips your heart out.

I also didn't like the live action Honey and Clover - cause it was missing some of H&C's magic. I did like the live action Moeshymon, though.

Ewww. Live Action Honey and Clover was a major disappointment for me. And Absolute Boyfriend was meh. An Ouran High School Host Club is a big turn off for me too. ;____;...So much disappoint.

                                  Dumpling (talk)14:35, 18 November 2011

I tend to agree - some (most?) anime doesn't translate well to live action - Higurashi, You're under arrest and Death Note being a few examples. Detroit Metal City was fun, if a bit over the top (but that's the point of it!!) A live action Ouran sounds like it would ramp up the creepiness levels to new highs.

btw, for a good look at actual host clubs, watch The Great Happiness Space. Certainly takes all of the shine off Ouran...
