Honestly, I'm not terribly fond of the whole "get drunk" scene. I'd rather nurse a really high quality beer or wine through an evening than just knock them down and stagger around. I've never been fond of how that feels. | Honestly, I'm not terribly fond of the whole "get drunk" scene. As to the question of beer writing, that's not so much of a problem. I just wish I could convince it to ''draw'', I've been working on the same strip all day and it still ain't done. --[[User:Kels|Kels]] 20:18, 25 May 2007 (CDT) | As to the question of beer writing, that's not so much of a problem. Hiya Kelseigh, and welcome back to the dollhouse! Nice to see the little rooms filling up with old friends so fast. Human 22:40, 21 May 2007 (CDT)

Ideas and what not
So we are working on an idea to draw some interested parties to the site, and one of them is to get submit to PZ Meyers blog for his carnival on the new Ken Ham creation museum. If we can get a solid article up and get some press from scienceblogs we will be in good shape. We are brain storming ideas for an article and angel to take, and Pal had the good idea to ask you if you might be willing to produce some line art for the entry? Tmtoulouse 21:54, 22 May 2007 (CDT)
- Love to. What have you got in mind? --Kels 21:55, 22 May 2007 (CDT)
- There in lies the rub, I am not sure yet what direction to take with the article. Let me think on it a bit. We need a somewhat creative take...Tmtoulouse 21:59, 22 May 2007 (CDT)
- No doubt, if you're going to stand out in that crowd. Well, I'll bide my time and wait to see what you come up with, then we can talk execution. --Kels 22:01, 22 May 2007 (CDT)

How about a well-written quasi parody of all the BS articles the papers run on CP? You know, the fluffy stuff? EG, my pet beef, everyone quotes ashfly's "My factual edits were deleted within minutes (seconds?)", but nobody asks him what they were! No one ever calls him on the "WP is 57 times more liberal than the US public" either. See how it could be done? That's one idea, running on the CP theme, but, right now, that is our strength, right? As of now, the only "edits" associated with ashfly on WP are his promotion of CP there, which was and is explicitly against their rules (website owner can't write article about it, etc.). perhaps some quote mining of his talk about liberal quotient, where it becomes obvious that he wants a skewed metric? Artwork? How about a sweet caricature of ashfly? In the style of that person who used to draw for the New Yorker? That would kick butt! humanbe in 22:37, 22 May 2007 (CDT)
- You mean the old Jules Feiffer stuff? I think I could credibly do something loose like that, but what sort of hook would we want to use? Something about denying reality obviously, but what have we got that can really grab people about him? --Kels 22:40, 22 May 2007 (CDT)
- Him dressed as Josef Stalin, maybe? That's what his hamfisted management style reminds me of. --75.71.78.212 22:44, 22 May 2007 (CDT)
- That's a thought, although for some reason I always get stuck on his absolute insistence that the site is doing well and that all the press attention has been a good thing, despite glaring proof to the contrary. But then, if you're a YEC then delusion comes with the territory, eh? --Kels 22:47, 22 May 2007 (CDT)
- Say, what's the deadline on this thing, anyhow? --Kels 22:49, 22 May 2007 (CDT)
- Yesterday ;) Image - how about a nero in burning rome, or a naked emporer, or even a wizard of oz, with a "quote" line like "this site is growing rapidly!" while he's chugging Ritalin and waving banishment decrees? There's some food for thought, at least. And, yes, I think I meant Feiffer. Thansk for the link! humanbe in 22:57, 22 May 2007 (CDT)

- I love that loose style of Feiffer's, it'll be interesting to see if I can approximate it. I'm liking the Nero one a lot, have we got any decent pics of Andy, or are we stuck with that one of him grinning like Howdy Doody? --Kels 23:05, 22 May 2007 (CDT)
Request for Schlafly Quotes
Some examples I happened to have stashed in notepad right now (indents from originals):
- Colin, there is no incentive for "conservative lies." There is no money to be made (in contrast with abortion and evolution), there is no power to be gained (in contrast with political power), and there are no other rewards. For many conservatives, standing up for the truth ends up getting them ridiculed (e.g., Anita Bryant, Rick Santorum) or crucified (e.g., Jesus). Why would someone lie for such fate? What examples of conservative lies do you have in mind, and what possible incentive could there be for it?--Aschlafly 01:25, 24 April 2007 (EDT)
- One, it's debatable that Jesus can be claimed as a "conservative" in today's political terms (great debate topic, exists). Two, of course there is money in "conservative lies". I cite Halliburton and Blackwater profiting from teh war in Iraq - hugely. Your future tax dollars at work, sadly. Human 01:28, 24 April 2007 (EDT)

- Well, OK, you can debate whether Jesus was a "conservative". But his church-going followers are, and many of his followers throughout history were crucified or otherwise tortured and murdered. Why lie for that? Halliburton and the Iraq War are not "conservative". Neoconservative, perhaps, and arguably there is some money in that. But there is no money in conservative principles, and no reason to lie.--Aschlafly 02:06, 24 April 2007 (EDT)

YEC?
- We are not a "YEC site" any more than we are wedded to any other position. Hoji excepted, most liberal attempts to label us as a "YEC site" are misguided attempts to smear and discredit us. I suppose I could call Wikipedia a pro-abortion site if I resorted to the same tactics.
- That said, we don't labor to include all points of view here either. The pro-evolution view is promoted heavily on Wikipedia, and there is little reason to spend (waste?) time on it here. So I see merit in Hoji's objection, but
perhaps for a different reasons. But I'm willing to wait and see what the proposed entry looks like.--Aschlafly 10:52, 24 April 2007 (EDT)"

BANN'D
I just looked at CP, and found my IP was banned! By User:TK! Just 20 minutes ago, which would be just after I told him I was never a member of CP, never had any socks, and never was involved in discussions of vandalism. And looking at the block, it appears my IP was blocked for being a sock, although it never had so much as a login attempt. User:TK, you are the funniest thing I've ever seen, don't ever change! HAHAHAHAHAHA --Kels 13:56, 24 May 2007 (CDT)
- Yes, the Conservapedia sysops are just a group of power obsessed little boys that think dissident is a worthy ban reason. -Icewedge 13:58, 24 May 2007 (CDT)
- I find it hilarious he banned me as a sock, a whole two minutes after I told him I'd never been on the site in my life. Too funny! --Kels 14:03, 24 May 2007 (CDT)
- Maybe they should just set a block to *.*.*.*? Save a WHOLE lot of work and time. Cracker
- Come to think of it, doesn't this serve as proof that people are being banned over there solely due to membership here? --Kels 14:35, 24 May 2007 (CDT)
- And going across the internet to find people to block, "just in case" they have funny ideas about going to CP at some point in the future, maybe, to you know, edit things ::shudder::. ~~ Cracker 14:38, 24 May 2007 (CDT)
- He's pretty fast, though. I posted a reply on his talk page, without realizing I was logged out. I immediately logged in, changed the signature to what it should have been. Two minutes later, that same IP was banned. Amazing, huh? Strangely, the ban notice came up when I tried to get to the deleted Bisexual page, to see if I could find a diff for why it was deleted. You have any way of getting that? --Kels 14:59, 24 May 2007 (CDT)

- It seems that is exactly the reason most of us were banned, so I spose it does. Funny, right in the middle of his bid for sysop. haha Flippin;-) 14:40, 24 May 2007 (CDT)

- I am inclined to suspend him from here for a while, but what message would that send? No, let's just let him stay and ignore his posturing. Sad, actually. Flippin;-) 15:04, 24 May 2007 (CDT)
- Perhaps it would send the message that actions have consequences? TK has been abusing our good nature since he came here, so perhaps it's time we stopped giving him far more latitude than we would give others. It's up to you guys, but honestly from here it looks like he's playing you for all you're worth. --Kels 15:09, 24 May 2007 (CDT)
- If he ever deletes somethign I put on his user page - or yells at me for posting there, I will revert and block him for one minute, with a warnin that blocks escalate. The trouble is, as nasty as he gets, he doesn't quite hit my "overt" block trigger, so I just ignore him. I could already warn/block him for ignorance for asking me if I am ever "nice" on his user page. But I don't care as long as no one gets beat up by him (ie, they look like they are suffering) and as long as no one starts succumbing to his power tripping. I'd worry more when new users turn up, what crap will he throw at them? humanbe in 16:02, 24 May 2007 (CDT)
