| + | Hi there. While I understand that RationalWiki is POV, I have always considered it to be POV towards the rationality and logical inquiry, and against crackpot ideas. The views presented on the pages I editted are, in general, completely against these ideas. They present a radical social response to valid critisims and shun and demonoise those against them. While some views are perfectly open to such attacks, such as pseudoscience and religious ideals, it's nothing but petty to have a bio on a Physicist that is well respected in his field and has a large following on YouTube for his anti-creationism and science videos with nothing but personal attacks. I hope to reach a compromise, but as it stands I've never even thought about editting a page until I came across what could only be described as a character assassination. I'm sorry about our recent disagreements. I just noticed you take it up the ass and I want to tell you that I fully support that. Thanks. WeAreEqual (talk) 11:13, 8 May 2013 (UTC)

Clogging recent changes with blocks
Why, back in my day, we got drunk, bitched about the site changing while we slept, and then blocked the entire Wiki for a day just to keep that from happening. Lousy kids these days just don't understand what a good block war was all about. Reckless Noise Symphony (talk) 06:19, 11 June 2013 (UTC)

I replied to you on my talk page.
Hi, I replied to you on my talk page. As a historian, I don't have time to deal with trolls who delete massive amounts of information without any warning or discussion. I don't think you should tolerate such people either, even if they had a history of contributing. These are not mature people and should not be allowed to just instantly wipe out all that well-cited information. Wouldn't you agree that a simple user-history of contributions on a website is not enough of a reason to automatically take his side where he clearly just deleted large amounts of text and used a sarcastic hostile tone throughout? Anthrax (talk) 04:24, 3 September 2013 (UTC)
- I do agree, and I didn't take his side. My comment was intended to help you see how your contributions were being viewed. We get a lot of trolls on this site, and most of them follow the pattern of heavy, dramatic edits to just one or two pages (always on related topics), usually turning them into the opposite of what they had been. They also tend to be extremely persistent and repetitive. So we don't always have as much patience as we should when dealing with newcomers who exhibit similar behavior.
- All that being said, I don't think you're being given a fair chance. I'm going to drop OS a message. Wehpudicabok [話] [変] 05:27, 3 September 2013 (UTC)
Edward Woodward would
Now we're getting into rough ground. This side of the pond, "ward" is pronounced "warred" with the ar prounced or - but the suffix -ward (Woodward, Southwards etc) is pronounced would. It's a wonder how we got the rest of the world to speak the language. Also, Edward Woodward should totally have starred in Ed Wood. SophieWilder

12-year-olds
Read:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ages_of_consent_in_North_America#State_laws
I didn't check all of them, but close-in-age exemptions seem to be pretty common; Alabama, Alaska, and Arkansas allow sex between minors who are sufficiently close in age. Arizona doesn't have exemptions in the law, but it is allowed as a defense in court. And that's just the A's. --ShorinBJ
Need help
I am an atheist, but I need help with something. Some Christians think that water is proof of God's existence, since it is perfect and needed for life. How do I answer this argument? Are there any other ways that my favorite compound could exist without a creator? Randomosaurus (talk) 07:42, 12 October 2013 (UTC)
- No, the argument is "watertight". ROFLCOPTER, but seriously is this even a question? Tielec01 (talk) 07:47, 12 October 2013 (UTC)
- Assuming it is a serious question: ask them to clarify what they mean by "perfect." Also, that water is needed for life is more relevant to questions about life than about water. Wehpudicabok [話] [変] 08:22, 12 October 2013 (UTC)

Oops
I autoblocked myself again - this time I really won't put any links at all up. I thought maybe it was because I just did a direct link rather than one masked by text. And, no, I can't edit my talk page.
- Thanks, unblocked, no links anymore. Bloomingdedalus (talk) 10:16, 16 January 2014 (UTC)
Just a technical note
Category:Talk pages for deleted articles is only for mainspace articles. For fun pages, there's Category:Talk pages for deleted fun pages, and there are similar categories for most namespaces.--ZooGuard (talk) 12:09, 29 January 2014 (UTC)

Pat on the back
For being a grown-up and apologizing. It may be hard to believe, but that can be a rare thing, and people who apologize about their something they did on RationalWiki gain some respect in my book. Reckless Noise Symphony (talk) 09:08, 17 February 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks, I appreciate it. It is pretty hard for us humans to admit when we're wrong.
- ...I'm not sure why though. I actually felt better after I apologized. Does "saving face" really matter that much? Psychology is weird. Wehpudicabok [話] [変] [留] 09:23, 17 February 2014 (UTC)
Creepiness
Don't feel bad, man (I know, you're female, but "woman" doesn't sound right). That girl was totally in the wrong for doing something like that. Trust me, as somebody who has had to put up with that kind of shit for years (just read Knight's talk page for an example from only a few months ago), I can tell you that it is no use dwelling on such things- the kind of people who will do and say such things (this also includes all kinds of mean behaviours) are not really worth worrying about. You're not a creep, and you don't deserve to get called such things. You are a wonderful person. Oh, and as a side note, I didn't know I reverted that edit. I was looking at my watch list on my phone, and my must have accidentally rolled it back. Sorry! MESSIAH OF DOOM Deserved doom shall be unto you
11:42, 4 March 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks for the kind words. I have been trying not to dwell on this, though as you can tell, it still gets to me sometimes. :( Wehpudicabok [話] [変] [留] 11:45, 4 March 2014 (UTC)
- By the way, you don't mind if I casually call you "man", "dude", "brother", et cetera, do you? It's not because I see you as male, it's just because I'm used to using that kind of language when trying to relate to people. But, yeah, if that bothers you, just let me know. MESSIAH OF DOOM Be judged by your suicidal desire
12:01, 4 March 2014 (UTC)
- "Man" and "dude" are practically interjections at this point; I barely even notice them, much less take offense. But I would prefer not to be called "brother", yes. I appreciate that you're taking the time to ask me. I think a lot of the trouble that cisgender people have with trans people is a lack of communication, because most (though obviously not all, yourself excepted) cis people aren't really interested in what trans people have to say, and trans people are scared to talk about themselves. So anytime I see anyone taking the time to learn, I count that as a win! :) Wehpudicabok [話] [変] [留] 12:15, 4 March 2014 (UTC)
- There's an interesting point here. I try to be as accepting as possible with all and sundry which means that, in the first instance, I want to treat all people the same. I wouldn't ask a cisgender person how they would like to be addressed so, as soon as I ask a trans person, I'm highlighting the difference.
- So, is it better to guess and then be corrected - just as a woman addressed as Miss might say "it's Mrs, actually" or is it better to ask? (and excuse me from barging into this conversation but I'd really like to know.) Placeholder (talk) 12:36, 4 March 2014 (UTC)
