Bob Casey, Jr.
Bob Casey, Jr., was every pro-lifer's favorite Democrat until 2006. He was treasurer of Pennsylvania, and then beat Rick Santorum in 2006 to become Pennsylvania's junior Senator. Even most pro-choice, pro-sex liberals consider him to be a far better choice than Santorum, even if they are still uneasy with him.
It is said that his father, then governor of Pennsylvania, was kept off of the speaking platform at the 1992 Democratic National Convention because the party was intolerant of pro-life opinions. The actual truth was that he was kept off because he had refused to endorse the Democratic nominee, Bill Clinton. Since then, however, the party has rushed to embrace the rather conservative younger Casey, if only to help secure Pennsylvania for future elections.
