Braco

Braco (AKA "The Gazer" AKA Josip Jelavic, AKA "Stari čudak koji bulji na ljude") is a Croatian man with supposed healing powers. He claims that he has never claimed to have healing powers, but others have claimed that he does, indeed, have healing powers. If Braco did make claims, though, one of those claims would be that he has the ability to change your life forever. How? Well by staring intensely at you, obviously; much like an old Croatian pervert. Not to mention, there is something very unsettling about his posture and his hair.

[edit] Following

Most of Braco's followers romanticize him to a point where it's damn near religious. Hearing someone talk about Josip in a positive light is like hearing a very pious Christian talk about Jesus. Watching someone talk about their beloved "The Gazer" in a positive light is like watching really corny Mormon propaganda. This is because some members of his following really do worship him, and demand that others do too if they want to promote peace and love. It's rather astonishing, in a sad, demented sort of way, that so many people crowd around an old man, who claims not to claim anything spectacular about himself, only to be stared at for a few minutes.

Braco can get away with claiming not to claim that he has spiritual powers, because by claiming that he doesn't claim that he has spiritual powers, he is implying that he may certainly have spiritual powers. By making these non-claims, Josip attracts individuals that believe in spiritual powers, and by putting on a show, he implies that he has paranormal powers to show them. All he can really do is imply, because he doesn't talk or do anything but gaze at his audience, but they trust his unspoken word because, by simply implying that he has powers, his audience feels as if they're right and know something that others don't. The illusion of knowledge empowers the audience, and so they trust their faulty instincts, and spread Braco's implications to others as their own personal claims. Whether Mr. Jelavic did this wittingly or not, it's an admittedly genius scheme.

[edit] Method

If not in every, then in almost every one of Braco's gazing sessions he follows a method.

  • Braco Method step 1: Stare at your audience with a blank, but slightly compassionate expression. Proceed for several minutes.
  • Braco Method step 2: Nod approvingly, knowing you've done your job well.
  • Braco Method step 3: Finally, ensure to claim that you don't claim to have mystical powers, thus implying that you do and attracting a larger audience to make claims for you and expand upon your fame.

There you have it. Now, you too can do what Josip "The Gazer" "Braco" Jelavic does and waste the time of hundreds of people. At least they'll think that they feel better.
