Can You Believe in God and Evolution?: A Guide for the Perplexed is a Christian theistic evolution book written by theologian Ted Peters and molecular biologist Martinez Hewlett, Professor Emeritus of Molecular and Cellular Biology at the University of Arizona in Tucson. It was published by Abingdon Press in 2006.
 Book description
In the book the authors reject creationism as unscientific but also reject atheism and instead advocate a form of theistic evolution where God has designed and programmed evolution, which they propose was built into the Big Bang so that the process unfolds over time in a guided formation eventually leading to consciousness. The main claim in the book by the authors is that evolution and a belief in the Christian God is compatible.
Some Christians have rejected the book and have written that the position of the authors is in opposition to the Bible. Other reviewers have written that the authors have an interesting model and that it is an important book for anyone interested in theistic evolution.
