Ed Schultz is a former sports radio announcer turned political talk radio host. Ed broadcasts from North Dakota and supports the Democratic Party. He used to frequently describe himself as a "gun-totin', red meat-eatin' Democrat", but more recently has begun describing himself as a progressive, and could probably be most accurately described as a left-wing populist.[citation needed]

He is the first liberal talk radio host to attain a national audience on a par with right-wing talkers like Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck, and Michael Savage. Carried on the Jones Radio Network, Schultz is not affiliated with Air America Radio but he often shares the same stations with that network as well as Stephanie Miller.

He now hosts a show on MSNBC, The Ed Show, where his style is something like a left-wing Bill O'Reilly. Even when making good points, he has a tendency to be rather tendentious.[citation needed]
