Durkheim

David Émile Durkheim was one of the founders of modern sociology, alongside Karl Marx and Max Weber. Durkheim refined the positivism of Auguste Comte, developing the concept of "social facts" which provided actual evidence for the new science of sociology to utilize and study.

His techniques for social research help form the basis of empirical methodology for many other social sciences, including political science.
