Essay talk:Abolish the close-in-age exception

Topic[edit]

You seem to believe that we should deny, cover up and repress any mention of sexuality or sexual desire in children. This will have to be accompanied by a removal of sex education and teenagers' access to contraception. The result, evidence shows, will be increased teen pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections.[1][2][3] A major reason for close-in-age exceptions is to allow children to seek advice and help when they need it, while protecting them as far as possible from exploitation. I don't find any of your counterarguments persuasive; yours is a classic slippery slope argument with all the usual weaknesses of that style of argument: "so-and-so might happen ... if we do this then we'll have to do that ..." all without any evidence. Jesus Christ. What the hell?[edit]

You are so blatantly missing the widely stated point of the laws in your "The key question: what is the difference between adults who have sex with minors, and minors who have sex with minors?" section.

And that point comes in two dimensions

  1. The implied or actual power gap between participants is much smaller. A 17 year old has very little social or financial leverage to groom or push a 16 year old to do something against their own interests.
  2. The ability to understand and appreciate consent is similarly developed in both participants. For the same reason we don't hold children to the same judicial standard for petty crimes as adults(an implicit lack of understanding of the full consequences of their actions), it's also necessary to include a dash of sanity with regard to understanding your own and the others' consent.

To drive the point home, using your appeal to universality here, I'd have been jailed and put on the sex offender registry at age 6 for indecent exposure, which I didn't understand in the slightest. This whole thing seems like a weird cover for pedophilia apologetics by trying to frame it as a "fairness" thing. ikanreed You probably didn't deserve that 15:56, 23 November 2016 (UTC)

What's with citing from the Purple- and RedPill reddits as sources, alongside this ridiculously manospherian anti-feminist mall ninja/paramilitary woo near-parody site?!

Top quotes: (from here and here)

Coming home from the gym I saw a black crow who spoke to me. I don’t speak bird language, but I know exactly what the black crow said. The crow said kaaaaa.

The black crow is a symbol of cunning, death and war – when you see a black crow that speaks to you, it is a sign that change is coming.

This change can be anything from a new beginning for the person or a sign of impending death for someone the person knows.

Impending death for that old invisible ghost and a new becoming for the master of Destiny – YOU – because New World Ronin is available now.

Available on amazon for $8.99

We have chosen not to accept slavery at the hands of immoral, incompetent and unrighteous masters. We do not rely on those in power, we rely only on ourselves and sometimes our contemporaries, other NWR.

New World Ronin have made the choice to unlock the chains that keep us locked in mental slavery and to enter the world of mental mastery.

We have taken matters into our own hands, we have learned to walk alone, and we have gone into business for ourselves. We are 3 in 1, businessmen, artists and rebels.

It is your choice to use the strategies of the NWR to break free from mental slavery, or to use the strategies of the normal world to remain in shackles.

We have chosen to become masters of our own world and if you want the same, New World Ronin will teach you how to stop living like a slave and start living like a master.

I'm really sorry if you've been reading this stuff as anything but utter cringe humor. I truly am. And if you've actually spent a single cent on this site, I'll gladly send your parents a bouquet of flowers alongside my deepest sympathies. Reverend Black Percy (talk) 16:25, 23 November 2016 (UTC)
