Fun:Scrapple
Scrapple is God's gift to the mid-Atlantic region of the United States, particularly the Philadelphia/Baltimore region. It is also a worthy contender along with escargot, pickled pigs feet, Marmite, chitlins, stilton cheese and casu marzu[wp] for the nastiest delicacy on earth. Mention of Scrapple is likely to evoke an extreme response of either revulsion and nausea or famished hunger, depending on whom you ask.
Scrapple is made of the pork scraps left over after a hog is butchered, such as the heart, liver, head, and other unsavory parts. These are boiled into a gelatinous goo, ground or chopped, mixed with cornmeal and spices, and sold as "food" to unwitting consumers. Scrapple is known for a somewhat strong flavor reminiscent of rotten... well, something. Rotten bacon, I guess.
Scrapple is a non-kosher food and is therefore an abomination unto the Lard LORD. File alongside shrimp and 180 proof white lightning in your recipe book and enjoy, sinner.
