Negationism, as it applies to
historical revisionism, is the denial and distortion of established historical
facts, usually related to the
denial of
war crimes or crimes against humanity. The
Soviet Union was a major practitioner of negationism, as "history" was altered frequently to reflect the party line.
Holocaust deniers and apologists for the USSR and
Nazis typically fall into this category.
Denial of the Armenian Genocide in
Turkey also constitutes negationism.
