"Pinko commie" is a phrase used in parodies or mockeries of opponents of communism, particularly those from the McCarthy era.

Pinko refers to one who sympathizes with communism but is not a communist himself (hence pink, not quite Red) and consequently "pinko commie" is arguably (logically) an oxymoron. Nonetheless the phrase is not without substance in describing hard left segments of political viewpoint.

The phrase started gaining popularity as a description of the communist movement as early as the 1930s. [1]
