A Rabbi is a teacher in Judaism. In theory, any Jew who teaches Jewish law or the Hebrew language can claim the title of "Rabbi". In practice, it refers to the ordained Jewish clergy. In most Jewish sects only men can become Rabbis; however, a few accept women as Rabbis, a notable example is Rabbi Julia Neuberger. The main function of a Rabbi is to study Jewish sacred texts such as the Torah, the Old Testament and the Talmud and to teach. Rabbis also do work like visiting sick people.

In Judaism, services are conducted by a Cantor rather than a Rabbi. In most other respects, Rabbis are the Jewish equivalent of priests.
