Say, how do you make a UBX that allows you to customize on a user-by-user basis, like the old political compass one that was on CP? I want to make a Myers-Brigg one. --Kels 15:26, 26 May 2007 (CDT)

You can set them with parameters. Look at template:user block for one. The way you code it is {{{1}}} and {{{2}}} for the parameters you want to change, and then make the user box by coding it like {{templatename|parameter1|parameter2}}.-AmesG 15:29, 26 May 2007 (CDT)

How do we create new userboxes for personal use? 00:54, 19 July 2007 (CDT) — Unsigned, by: SirChuckB / talk / contribs

Well, there are a couple of ways they are coded (2 different styles), that you can become familiar with by looking at the examples. In our uxb lists, the name of each one links to it. If you then click on "edit", you'll see the gibberish that created that box. The simplest way to make one is to find one you pretty much like the look of, and copy its content (during the "edit" phase), then retype the url in your browser, changing the name of the uxb. When you hit "return", you'll be editing a new file - your first userbox. Paste in the content you copied, and alter it as much as you want, ie, change the image, change the text, alter colors if you can figure them out, etc. Preview will work on them like any file, of course.
When you like it, save it and add it to one (or more) of our userbox categories (so others might find and use it) and proudly add it to your personal display of quirks, kinks, and conundrums. On your page, the easiest way to show them is in the automatically generated column on the right, which uses the userboxtop and userboxbottom templates, which I think are explained on this page's content. I would also suggest browsing the web, especially other wikis (like WP), for tutorials. Heck, if you find a great one, make sure it's GFDL and copy it over here. I hope this helps a bit... humanbe in 01:11, 19 July 2007 (CDT)

It does, thanks a lot SirChuckB 01:13, 19 July 2007 (CDT)

Image Size[edit]

Right, so i wanted to make myself a userbox, i took some random one i found, copy pasted it and started fiddling... and got this. Now, as you can see, the image is quite big... i tried reducing it's size and uploading it again, but that had... variable results: The first time I reduced it to about half the size and the image actually got larger in the userbox... and the second time i made it very small, about 5 times smaller i'd say (this is all using photoshop, btw) but it was about... 2/3 the size of the original when i uploaded it.

Any clues?

One day i will remember to sign my stuff... LynadHello? 13:35, 8 April 2009 (EDT)

There's no need to upload a thumbnail, mediawiki can resize images, like this: Terminator head (thumbnail).jpg --  Nx/talk  13:38, 8 April 2009 (EDT)
Exactly what i was looking for! Thanks very much LynadHello? 13:47, 8 April 2009 (EDT)

Tabling Userboxes[edit]

I find the lack of tabled userboxes disturbing. --The Hellhole! g͘͡r̸̀a̸̶̡n̶̶͜ţ̡ ̀҉̴̨͡m̀͘͜͢e͡ ̸͟҉̷̢ỳ̸̡̀͞ơ̡̢̡ų̧r̴̀͡͝ ̡҉҉̧̛s̵̕͏̡ǫ̀́͢ų́l̵̕҉|G̕͡a̵͘͜z̴͞e͏̴̧͞ ͏̀͠͞u͜͢ņţ̛ơ̶͜ ̶̢̛̀t̴͢h̢̛͠҉è̸̛ ̨́a̸͟b̴̧̀̕͡ý̨͠s͡s͟͠͝ 19:51, 11 October 2013 (UTC)

Looking to make a MTF transsexual userbox.[edit]

But I have no clue what to use for a thumbnail...--ZeroIsLogic (talk) 02:54, 21 May 2014 (UTC)

This is about as good as it gets. I've seen that one get some use with the online trans community (unlike the other flags in that list, which either feature ungainly symbols or are truly garish). Thanks. This will work.--ZeroIsLogic (talk) 16:23, 21 May 2014 (UTC)

New Userboxes[edit]

Hey, I noticed that there was no userbox for bigender users. Would one of you be a dear and make one for me please? I suck at computer stuff.--107Ag47 20:46, 20 April 2015 (UTC)

What're you thinking for the text and image? PacWalker 20:50, 20 April 2015 (UTC)
Is User:PacWalker/Thing on roughly the right trackish? I'm kind of guessing wildly as to what icon to use. PacWalker 21:11, 20 April 2015 (UTC)
Yeah, something like that. How would I get that on my userpage? Thanks. 107Ag47 17:23, 21 April 2015 (UTC)
I would move it to {{User bigender}} (which I will in just a moment just did) and then you would add {{User bigender}} wherever you keep your userboxen. PacWalker 21:59, 21 April 2015 (UTC)
Thanks! This means a lot to me. 107Ag47 01:12, 22 April 2015 (UTC)
Not a problem. PacWalker 01:52, 22 April 2015 (UTC)

Editing Userboxes[edit]

So, I want to make an ADHD userbox, but it says I can't edit the template, so I don't know what to do. Anyone able to help? - Roselily2006

On talk pages, please sign your comments using four tildes (~~~~) or by clicking on the sign button: SigButt.png on the toolbar above the edit panel. You can also indent successive talk page comments using one more colon (:) for each line. Thank you.
I don't think you can create or edit templates until you're autoconfirmed (account is one day old, has ten edits). What you can do is copy the syntax onto your userpage directly. There's a comment in the link explaining what you need to do in that case. Christopher (talk) 18:04, 26 May 2022 (UTC)
