Recipe:Beer Lentils
I did something bold and unthinkable (relatively). I cooked lentils in beer. The result was some of the most flavorful lentils I have ever had, and I have had lentilles du puy. Note that I'm pretty sure there's no alcohol in the final product, being that it has a lower boiling point than water. Or a higher boiling point, I don't know, whatever.
[edit] Ingredients
- 3 cans of Pabst Blue Ribbon
- 3 cups of brown lentils
- some olive oil
- some dry rosemary leaves
- some salt
Serves more than one person, although I'll be eating it all to myself over 1-2 days. Like, seriously, three cups of lentils is a lot of lentils.
[edit] Instructions
I used a rice cooker, set for white rice. First I poured in the Pabst. Then I put in the lentils. Then I sprinkled in the rosemary. I mixed it all up. I activated the rice cooker. I periodically stirred a bit. I tried to inhale some of the fumes. I may have gotten a headache. Eventually, there was no liquid remaining in the pot. So I took some lentils out, put some olive oil and salt on it, and I ate it. It was good. Very tasty.
