Recipe:Feelin' alright
This should make you feel better. There's no science behind it, but it should at least be fun to try
Ingredients:
- unsweetened cocoa powder
- black tea (no tea balls or tea bags or whatever. Just straight up black tea. Or any tea, I guess. I used black)
- several kinds of light, stiff fruits and vegetables (I used apples, carrots, zucchini squash, and a little bit of tofu)
- olive oil
- salt
Equipment:
- A steamer/rice cooker
- paper towels
[edit] Preparation
Place hot water into your rice cooker. Add liberal amount of cocoa powder. Add in black tea to the water. Commence further heating.
Cut up veggies and prepare for steaming.
Steam with tea/cocoa mixture, with paper towel between lid and vegetables. This is ostensibly to keep as much of the aroma in the pot. Don't ask me if it's at all effective. It's just part of the recipe.
Steam until carrots are soft enough to easily cut with a knife (so you may want to include carrots or something similar in the mix of veggies, if only to have an idea of how long and hot you should cook).
You may have to replace the paper towel at some point to make sure it doesn't tear and get into your food. Once veggies are done, remove and place into another container. Let it cool a little, and add however much salt and olive oil you think will please you. I used to think that there could be no such thing as too much olive oil, and I imagine some of you hold the same opinion, but be forewarned that too much will cause heartburn, thus negating any feelings of wellbeing this recipe is alleged to provide.
Pour the water boiled with cocoa and tea into a drinking container (preferably a heat resistant one, like a boro-silicate. ceramic, or plastic, as the high temperature may risk damaging the container. I know I've broken a few glass containers by pouring in near boiling water into them. Don't make any mistakes I make. Those are often terrible mistakes).
Eat your steamed veggies. Drink the mix of cocoa and black tea.
I've only got anecdotal evidence to back this up. I hear chocolate was supposed to make you feel better, chemically, hence its inclusion. The cocoa tea was surprisingly good. Try it yourself and post improvement on the talk page. The food is meant to taste good and take you mind off of things, while not weighing you down like other comfort foods might.
