Talk:A Haunting

i just watched the episode titled "demon child" and hearing the interviews with the real family sounded unnerving to say the least.

even though the show depicted timeouts, i got the distinct feeling she got physical pretty quick with the child. the husband was depicted as a skeptic and smart, but obviously showed a lower IQ in the interviews.

i don't know just wanted to put that out there Nailo1 (talk) 20:14, 8 July 2011 (UTC)

Are You New?[edit]

Why is there content in the article about "a skeleton popped out" and "pasta"? That content is irrational and therefore doesn't seem appropriate to retain. My edit to remove it was quickly reversed.

Probably because they're Funspace articles. If the RW logo changes to a green/purple color, then it's just a nonsensical and funny page not to be taken seriously. Also, we don't use NPOV here, sonny; we use the SPOV style of things around here, meaning that snark, humour, and sarcasm are acceptable in some cases. And please sign your posts with ~~~~! Yes, I'm new. I haven't observed any change in the logo color. SPOV sounds like a curious although distinguishing feature for the site, presumably since skeptical sites might already address many of the topics found here. I was hoping this might be a site more like one sponsored by the Vulcan Science Academy (if only it actually existed). I suppose the Main Page of RW should have more information about SPOV which would be useful for me to read, although I wonder whether the long-term goals of the site might be better served by a different format (or some clearer marking to denote "snarky" content, as I still don't see any sort of color-coding or other properties used for that purpose). 136.181.195.29 (talk) 17:42, 5 November 2015 (UTC)

I see that "in-jokes and memes that the RationalWiki community has acquired over the years...while...usually welcome in discussions, essays and user pages...should be used very sparingly (if at all) in the main article namespace, as they are likely to be baffling or off-putting to readers unfamiliar with the site." It sounds like this is the problem I refer to. I did find a joke article elsewhere, with the colored logo, but this site is not so-labeled.136.181.195.29 (talk) 17:57, 5 November 2015 (UTC)

Yeah. The addresses are different. For example, the 2012 U.S. Presidential Election is informational, but there is a Fun:2012 U.S. Presidential Election that is just memes and jokes. In Fun pages, the brain will be purple, and the brackets will be green. You mean to tell me the tamales were spiked?! Say hi! Look here! Amen! 20:55, 5 November 2015 (UTC)
And the article title will begin with the word "fun." BicyclewheelModerator 21:16, 5 November 2015 (UTC)
