Vandalism/reaction from the Anglo-Saxon foundation[edit]

I noticed that this had been added by someone with the IP address 81.152.156.81:

We did this because we secretly hate you English bastards, and instead of being 'rational' we've decided to play tit for tat because, yes, you're exactly right about what you've said about Wikipedia. So we've decided to smear you because, as anyone knows, mud sticks.

After I removed it, the same person went and added this:

(as we know, having poor spelling skills excludes you from having a valid opinion.)

Followed by this:

Not only that, you can be smart-arse by pointing it out

Presumably this is someone from the Anglo-Saxon Foundation forum. I Googled "RationalWiki UEPEngland" and turned up a thread about us - titled "is this the best they got?" - which seems to have been removed. Baljit (talk) 12:55, 13 April 2011 (UTC)

Nice detective work. Pity they deleted that thread, it could have been a laugh. Totnesmartin (talk) 13:14, 13 April 2011 (UTC)
Ah, Google has a cache of the discussion - I'm wondering if there's any way to reference it in the article. Would screencaps be okay? Here it is in its entirety: Baljit (talk) 09:48, 14 April 2011 (UTC)
i just found this oh so though discection of us here i was at first tempted to post it in the humour section because there inept amaturish attempt at a hatchet job on the ASF is at best comically inept but in the end i decided this was the right place for these smug self satisfied antienglish pillocks due to there unthinking automatic knee jerk reaction to anyone showing pride in being english and actually doing the research as many have on here and coming to the conclusions that we have come to on many subject(and even there we agree to disagree on many matters unlike most "liberal" groups)based on a thoughtfull consideration on the evidence they blithely dismiss us as neo nazi tin foil hat wearing paranoid conspiracy theorists not having the courage of there convictions to come on here and get our side of things or heavens forbid try to debate the point rationally rather then doing the usual psuedo liberal trick of starting from a confrontational openly biased position and then accusing everyone else of being "racists"when they inevitably start to lose the debate

Is there any way we can thank them for the publicity? They obviously(wrongly) think that all good Englishmen will be appalled by this dreadfully mono-cultural site. They are clearly the sort of people who don't listen to what ordinary Englishmen are saying.Even the "sheeple" are rather politically incorrect in their humour.

'The members claim to stand for the English people, despite the fact that most people in England probably think they're a tad coo-coo.' - RationalWiki I'd like to see the data supporting that statement, Mr Ravenswood?

Behold the deed of a true níðing. The twerp who penned this piece of childishness best be careful for he has now crossed the line where libel laws come into play.

Interesting how some of them assume we're English-hating bastards. I've alway been proud to be able to call myself English, though I suppose also being (generally) liberal and half-Irish would somehow diminish my standing with some of them. SJ Debaser 17:44, 14 April 2011 (UTC)
That first commentator appears to hate English more than any of us... (cue rimshot). ThunderkatzHo! 17:52, 14 April 2011 (UTC)

Looks as though the thread wasn't deleted, it was just posted in a private subforum which, via some loophole, is publicly cached by Google. And now the cache's got a more up-to-date version of the thread, which I've taken a screengrab of. There was one fair point amongst the waffle:

i however notice they dont show any screen shots or referances to or of all the times members of this forum have taken the piss out of facists and neo nazis trying to hijack this forum

I'll set about adding a "views on neo-Nazis" section to balance the article a little. Baljit (talk) 07:27, 23 April 2011 (UTC)

What it says on the tin. ħumanUser talk:Human 09:30, 23 April 2011 (UTC)

Yup; happy St. George's day to all our fans at UEPEngland. Here, I added a section making it clear that you're not Nazis - happy now? Baljit (talk) 13:40, 23 April 2011 (UTC)
On a whim I checked Google, and they've cached another bunch of posts. Here's Inboren's reply to the Nazism section:
Well thanks for that but we really don't need it, let's get this back into perspective, you are a sanctimonious bunch of idiots based in a foreign country deciding to pass judgement on something that doesn't concern you. This is our country, not yours, it is the intimidation of our people by outsiders taking over their areas to completion so aggressively, the rape of our women that is being covered up by the media. The murders of our teenage boys not yours, for the crime of simply walking the 'wrong' streets in their own country, you don't get a say as far as I am concerned and it really is as simple as that.

Your country has it's own major problems, why not concentrate on those rather than having so much misplaced interest in what the patriots of England and their kin are doing?

Please don't get me wrong, even though I just typed the above I don't want you to stop selectively quoting me, it's a free source of amusement. Your page on us has had (at time of posting) 626 views. Taking into account most of those hits would have originated from here, in web traffic terms that's akin to the difference in windspeed made by a mouse farting in the general direction of a hurricane..
Yeah, we love you too. Incidentally, I'm from England, so I'm not sure where you're getting the idea that we all live in a foreign country from. Baljit (talk) 09:44, 2 May 2011 (UTC)

Snark[edit]

Add to category: hit pieces and hatchet jobs. ТyTalk. 13:58, 2 May 2011 (UTC)

Just looking at their writing, I can't be sure if these people are actually English. They butcher the language so regularly. RoninMacbeth (talk) 20:29, 9 August 2018 (UTC)

Reaction pt. 2, and thoughts[edit]

Well, we just had another attempt at vandalism, which tipped me off to a second thread about us at the forum. It's much the same as the first one - more rubbish about how we're "anglophobes" and only attack bigots if they're white; there's also something about "infiltration", apparently referring to a trolling attempt over there, or something. More interesting is the continuation of the "goy cabal" stuff, which I've added a section about; the short version is that someone at the ASF saw someone on the internet jokingly claim to be part of the "Goy cabal aiming for world dominance", failed to see the gag, and assumed that this was a genuine secret society. Which got me thinking: are a lot of these people autistic?

I have friends with Asperger's syndrome, and they sometimes have trouble telling whether a person's joking or being serious, rather like the aforementioned ASF member. And a lot of the autistic people I've come across also have a tendency to lose themselves in fictional worlds - TV series, books, etc. - which is rather like these people's obsession with their completely fabricated idea of England.

We often joke about our targets being "batshit crazy", but sometimes I wonder if there are, in fact, genuine mental disorders underpinning their behaviour. Baljit (talk) 08:38, 5 June 2011 (UTC)

Pruning[edit]

This article's got a tad bloated, so I just removed a section that wasn't that funny and didn't tell us much that isn't covered elsewhere on the page. But here it is n case anyone wants to re-add it:

The ASF's views on Judaism, a subject that does not seem to come up at the forum that much, are rather mixed. "[M]ost media in all its forms is Jewish owned or controlled", says member "Guy". He adds that "most western Governments are heavily controlled/influenced by Jews", and complains that "to object to Jews or Islam is to make you a nazi in their eyes.Couldn't be further from the truth, I just don't like them and their dominating attitude to other races."[1] Member "Yorkie King", meanwhile, refers to YouTube as "jew tube",[2] while "Barghest1" claims that the English Defence League "are wholy owned and operated for and in jewish interests".[3]

That said, a member named "lokki" who claimed that the Normans were part Jewish was not welcome, and ended up branded a 'village idiot'. "Your so-called interest in European history is just a front for your hatred of the Jews", said "Woden's Child" in one of his threads. "Most people on here are only interested in the English, so not following your warped views is no indication of us being Jew lovers, Yids, etc. I couldn't give a shit about the Jews either way."phttp://www.uepengland.com/bbs/index.php/topic/22042-the-trouble-with-the-normans/] Jews have also been compared favourably to Muslims by forumgoers: "We've had Jews in this country for far longer than we've had Muslims and I don't recall Kosher KFC's or MacDonald's springing up all over the place", says "Alda".[4]

Baljit (talk) 08:20, 30 August 2011 (UTC)

The article could still do with even more pruning. The same two or three forum nutters are quoted incessantly, which not only gets really tedious, but is also far less informatives than summaries. This is reminiscent of the problem with articles on various internet kooks that mainly consists of their tweets or other quotations. ScepticWombat (talk) 06:29, 26 September 2018 (UTC)

Sure, but it's not unique to Islam[edit]

and there are pacifist currents to Islam, including some mentioned in our own article on the subject. There's also Islamic feminist movements who are both genuinely Muslim and genuinely feminist, who would obviously disagree with the take that Islam is inherently misogynist, at least any more than any other religion. We need not label Muslims as "dangerous fanatics" which perpetuates Islamophobia while still legitimately criticizing Islam. A better criticism than "suicide bombers omg" (ignoring the fact that these "religious fanatics" are motivated as much by politics as religion) is the Islamic perpetuation of the slave trade until far too recently.
