I like Ben Stein as a person[edit]

Really. I recently happened to watch a show about stupid american models (it was called something like Smart American Models), and Ben Stein was a host. I didn't even recognize him at first, although I had seen the expelled movie. Ben was quite cool. I at first even thought that he's a liberal. For example, three male models helped each other to undress and Ben Stein was close there and told something like "excellent material for a gay movie". It wasn't some poisonous remark, he actually told it as if he had seen a gay movie himself. And oh, he used the word "demon" in a good sense. Tells a lot, I think.

I find him quite likeable, just not very good at thinking. --Earthland (talk) 18:33, 2 September 2010 (UTC)

He's likeable if you ignore the fact that he wants to drag society back to the dark ages. Evil educated Hoover! 18:35, 2 September 2010 (UTC)
Quite an overgeneralized, straw-man accusation, might I say. He's just not very reasonable... but I think he's a nice guy who does his best. Not that I support his views or something, or perhaps only his pro-life stance. --Earthland (talk) 18:42, 2 September 2010 (UTC)
"Doing his best" means in this case spreading wilful ignorance. Evil educated Hoover! 19:00, 2 September 2010 (UTC)
I'm sure Philip J. Rayment is really nice in person, even a lot of other religious people can be quite nice good persons. You could probably have spent a drunken evening with Dubya before he was president and not come away loathing the experience. Don Corleone was a good man, Tony Soprano could be fun over dinner and I bet even Hitler was nice to his dogs and those around him before he got mixed up with all that war stuff. Everyone has the capacity to be nice to some degree but that doesn't make up for when they are nasty, small-minded, bigoted, violent or try to impose their own beliefs on everyone else. Plenty of idiots are nice people. Occasionaluse (talk) 19:38, 2 September 2010 (UTC)

Ben Stein as an actor and host is fine. Ben Stein in pretty much any other context sucks. One can say the same thing for lots of people with bad politics and/or bad personal lives. --Ismailov (talk) 21:53, 9 April 2020 (UTC)
