Lots and lots of various articles have crashed here. Is this really about "church". Maybe it should be renamed? or just reworked?Pink mowse.pngGodotThe Peyote God awaits 15:12, 21 September 2011 (UTC)

Possible cult/fringe sect?[edit]

I had the incredible misfortune to encounter a (very loud indeed) member of the Israelite Church of God in Jesus Christ preaching (well, ranting really) outside the local library to an audience of one very embarrassed-looking black man and two openly-derisive white men. He started preaching to me about how my "negroid skin and American descent assure my place in Heaven" and generally spouting off the sort of racist bullshit that sometimes make me wish I were able to slap sense into people rather than futilely citing facts.

Anyway, did some more research on the church and everything about it seems just kind of racist. To quote the street-corner weirdo, "We African Americans and those who are the true natives of this land, the Hispanics and Native Indians, we are the Lost Tribes and the LORD's chosen people!"

Upon my asking for clarification, he did tell me that, quote, "white boys, Japs, ass-naked tribals in Africa, and Jews" were destined to burn in Hell, while continuing to (very loudly, with none of his audience more than ten feet away on a quiet street) preach that we would inherit Heaven because of all the racism directed against us.

Just wanted to ask if this deserves a space under the "cults" heading. 71.76.181.41 (talk) 03:35, 19 July 2012 (UTC)

Write up an article if you wish. Тytalk 03:36, 19 July 2012 (UTC)
I'd love to, but I lack any relevant knowledge other than that one chance encounter and what I could glean from the Wikipedia article. I've got an ancient monitor that doesn't display grayscale very well, and the main ICGJC website (http://www.icgjcmd.org/) is utterly illegible to me. Doctor Clown (talk) 03:42, 19 July 2012 (UTC)
Add it to the list as a redlink. Тytalk 03:44, 19 July 2012 (UTC)

'Change of use' consecration[edit]

Should this be mentioned - some churches get reconsecrated when a congregation of a different persuasion takes on the building. 82.44.143.26 (talk) 18:37, 14 August 2017 (UTC)
