[edit] Two questions

Just to play devil's advocate.

  1. What is late night advertising? Do you mean on the television? Or Radio? Or the new electronic bill boards?
  2. No studies show the efficacy...have studies been done at all? There is a difference between no studies showing an efficacy, and no studies being done whatsoever. In the second case, it might be effective, but in the first case, it would be doubtful. I assume these products are effective at purging, probably just not at producing other claimed benefits. HeartGold tx 09:19, 11 June 2007 (CDT)

Perhaps you are not American or not up late, but the late night hours tend to be the time when long (i.e. 30 minute) "infomercials" air. These include adds for quackery, diet products, soft porn, and other products "not ready for prime time".

Not only do "no studies show efficacy", there is no scientific basis to expect efficacy. Also, actual studies have failed to link "colonic stasis" with disease (other than, of course, constipation).--PalMD-yada yada 09:23, 11 June 2007 (CDT)

[edit] Addiction

Chronic use of laxatives, both ingested and "anal douche" types can lead to a physical dependence upon them. ~~ C®acker 10:32, 11 June 2007 (CDT)

And to melanosis coli, an observed darkening of the colonic mucosa of uncertain significance.--PalMD-yada yada 10:35, 11 June 2007 (CDT)

[edit] mea culpa

Do to annoyance about being pestered about the subject, I cannibalized this article (i was main author) to use in my blog. I hope no one minds.--PalMD-Goatspeed! 16:24, 23 July 2007 (CDT)

[edit] Kind of a silly question, but...

...this isn't the same thing as just, ahem, clearing out one's rectum through the...err...the "introduction of warm water into the back passage", right? This thing is turned up to eleven, and the former is more sensible, yes?

[edit] Cool(onic?) Story Bro

You know, I've heard about this procedure for years. However, the first I'd seen it mentioned in pop culture was in Eddie Murphy's remake of "The Nutty Professor". At the Klumps' family dinner table. Hilarity, and flatulence, ensued. The first I'd seen the procedure (despite heavy editing) in action was on MTV's Jackass Christmas episode. The infamous "Santa Colonic" stunt. Just thought I'd share! --Chair tater (talk) 06:33, 16 March 2014 (UTC)
