After noticing BobM fix a dozen links to this page, it becomes obvious (to me) that the article should be moved to Guantanamo Bay - full caps for a place name. Thoughts? humanUser talk:Human 14:44, 26 January 2008 (EST)

yes - I'll fix the links.--Bobbing up 15:32, 26 January 2008 (EST)
I've left the redirect - though I don't know if it makes much difference.--Bobbing up 15:38, 26 January 2008 (EST)
Thanks! Sorry to double your work... Yeah, the redirect might make sense to have. Stops someone from accidentally re-creating it, at least. humanUser talk:Human 16:32, 26 January 2008 (EST)

[edit] Question on the origin of the term "Gitmo"

did it come from contrast of Gulag (the five letter bisyllablic "G" word with no other similarities) or does it come from "Gizmo"? K61824ZOYG I edit like Kenservative! 01:32, 17 June 2009 (UTC)

No, it's just military slang, first letter, next important consonant, ending. They do it all the time (hummerhumvee, huey chopper, thousands of other examples). ħumanUser talk:Human 02:16, 17 June 2009 (UTC)
Why the "i" in there though? Why not Guatmo or just Guamo? 141.134.75.236 (talk) 03:55, 5 February 2015 (UTC)
