The part about Moslem extremism really needs to be fixed up - and that WP cite doesn't really support the statement... ħuman

[edit] Now hold on just a minute here...
How is Fitna supposed to be an expression of "theist extremism" in the Netherlands? We're talking about a clearly misleading propaganda movie released by an ultra-rightist anti-Muslim which tries to paint Muslims in the worst possible light, and yet it never really generate any significant response, either in the Netherlands or abroad. If anything, I'd say it shows that the Netherlands don't have any particular problems in that regard. --AKjeldsenCum dissensie 12:14, 20 July 2008 (EDT)
- Sorry, if you read it that way. Fitna was a response to the rising number of Muslims in the Netherlands and the perceived de-Dutchifying of the country. Although there was not a big response to it, the majority of Nederlanders with whom I have discussed the film have expressed concerns about the changes to Dutch society caused by the immigrants (largely Turkish & Moroccan, somehow the Indonesians seem to get left out of the debate). I was surprised as the Dutch are generally seen as very tolerant but they do have a fierce sense of identity which is often hidden from outsiders. However, if you feel that it is inappropriate take it out. I only inserted the reference to replace a link to the Danish cartoon controversy.

[edit] Holland is incorrect - it's the Netherlands
Holland is slang-term for the factual name the Netherlands. This is because there are two provinces in the Netherlands called Noord- and Zuid-Holland, and because Amsterdam, the capital city, is located in Noord-Holland, a lot of people began calling the Netherlands 'Holland', which is incorrect.
The name of the country is The Netherlands - NOT Holland. Please change the name to the Netherlands.— Unsigned, by: 84.28.150.228 / talk / contribs May 2009
- That's a really good reason to keep it titled "Holland"! Thanks for playing. ħuman
