Talk:Hormone replacement therapy
From RationalWiki
I took out the word "transgendered" since most HRT is taken by transsexuals. --Kels 17:17, 30 July 2007 (CDT)
- I think most HRT is still taken by post-menopausal women.--PalMD-Goatspeed! 17:32, 30 July 2007 (CDT)
- Whups! Poor wording, at the time we were only talking TS/TG. Yeah, by far the most is among post-menopausal women, although there's ongoing debate about what's safe. Also, they don't need stuff like testosterone injections, or anti-androgens. --Kels 18:14, 30 July 2007 (CDT)
Surely what Kels means should be called Hormon Displacement Therapy. I've never heard HRT used that way in UK. Keepoff the grass 18:40, 30 July 2007 (CDT)
- Nope, the common term is Hormone Replacement Therapy, the idea is to get rid of the existing hormones and replace them with the new ones. Now early on it was more displacement, where in MtF's they prescribed massive doses of estrogens in order to supress testosterone production, but with the development of anti-androgens it becomes a more true replacement. --Kels 18:45, 30 July 2007 (CDT)

I am a bit mystified at why the article is here in the first place. Is it intended to support something? Heart of Gold made it, but there doesn't seem to have anything linked to it. Anyone got an idea about it? --Kels 18:52, 30 July 2007 (CDT)
- HG trolling? - a high percentage (97.85474378%) of edit time seems to be spent argifying with him. Keepoff the grass 18:58, 30 July 2007 (CDT) (Joke HG!)

That's more like it Kels. Keepoff the grass 19:04, 30 July 2007 (CDT)
- Thanks. It made more sense to do it this way since Heart put in something about post-menopausal women, and Pal's reminder. Still not sure what it's for, though. --Kels 19:07, 30 July 2007 (CDT)
