- I don't know. There is a lot of environmental concern about big cars. 4x4s get a lot of the flak even though they're not especially the worst polluters. Large estates and saloons chuck just as much gunk into the atmosphere as the offroad cars but they don't get articles written about how they and their owners are destroying the planet. - Yeah, but singling out Hummers is more an exercise in symbolic woo than anything, and has more to do with leftist class warfare notions. There are few Hummers on the road compared to a lot of other vehicles. It's a case of singling out one relatively rare vehicle and making it a symbol of conspicuous consumption.
