Editorial notes
  • Possibly requires a considerable rewrite, explaining what it is without odd examples.
  • Bipartisan section needs attention.

Keeping Palin away from her kids might be the best thing for them. Jollyfish.gifГенгисOur ignorance is God; what we know is science. 14:01, 2 September 2008 (EDT)

Hehe... we're gonna have a hell of time "past tensing" all this sort of thing after the elections... ħumanUser talk:Human 19:33, 19 October 2008 (EDT)
Palin's children are grown up, aren't they? --Idiot number 59 (talk) 09:33, 9 July 2010 (UTC)

Hypocrisy[edit]

Bipartisan, hmmm?[edit]

The Bipartisan section of the article is criticizing feminists for something it admits it has no evidence that any feminists have actually said. Which means that, considering who the original statement actually comes from, it contains one example of conservative hypocrisy and one misattributed example of conservative hypocrisy.

I move that we either find a real example of liberal hypocrisy or, if we can't, take down the bipartisan section. 24.1.247.139 (talk) 22:58, 25 July 2011 (UTC)

That's partially my fault. Before, there was attribution to feminists and a fact template. I removed the template by mentioning that it seemed more misattribution, but failed to notice and thus change the heading. I'm sure examples of liberal hypocrisy are not difficult to come by. Possibly not the best examples anyway, to be fair. ADK...I'll discombobulate your dystopia! 00:02, 26 July 2011 (UTC)

Hypocrisy in religion[edit]

IIRC, there are several parts of the New Testament where Jesus denounces hypocrisy as a great evil and a barrier to salvation. And yet, so many self-proclaimed Christians completely fail to live up to Jesus's teachings of compassion, charity, love, respect, etc.… there should probably be a section on this page addressing that. --Luigifan18 (talk) 21:37, 13 July 2022 (UTC)

Argumentum "ad hypoctrsiam"[edit]

It might be appropriate if not to list, at least to create a reference to a relevant voice I remember existing correlated with hypocrisy. It has been sadly codified, dunno if pioneered, by Tom Wolfe infamous piece against "radical chic". The mutuated term has become somehow more (ab)used in Europe, maybe Italy than English speaking countries, but there is also gauche caviar. Not being english speaking I dunno what the use has been before it became a mainstream right wing talking point. It's in the family of virtue signaling and sjw and woke basically, but seems a different connotation than radical chic. This fallacy commonly argues that this or that private but mainly public person is a hypocrite if they own a smartphone because that's how they sent that message against exploitation, while their vision is one where ethically made smartphones are more msinatream. Or another argument is that they are sheltered from the consequence of immigration and the like.5.77.117.29 (talk) 21:44, 6 April 2024 (UTC)
