Apologies for taking a lot of Wikipedia stuff but I was quite impressed with it. Snarking it up will be the next step. Scarlet A.pngtheist 13:54, 24 November 2009 (UTC)

Tennis Balls[edit]

I was considering sending my coat through the laundry, and it recommended sending it through the dryer with, get this, tennis balls. My girlfriend tells me it's to maintain the puffy nature of it (it's a giant winter parka filled with feathers). Anybody think it's worth mentioning here? Zero (talk) 14:49, 24 March 2014 (UTC)

Somebody heard it wrong, somewhere along the line. It is supposed to be tennis shoes in with puffy items in the dryer. Sprocket J Cogswell (talk) 15:49, 24 March 2014 (UTC)

iPhone Smear?[edit]

I stumbled across this page when looking for something else. I haven't really used RationalWiki much before. I was just glancing through it and was assuming most of the information was likely correct. But then suddenly there's an inexplicable iPhone smear on this page. Despite owning an iPhone, the smear itself certainly doesn't bother me. What does bother me is that it makes it seem like this page was just thrown together and made up on the spot. As far as I can tell, the iPhone reference is completely irrelevant to this page and such irrelevance makes me doubt the validity of the rest of the information on the page. Just thought I'd mention.

P.S. The captcha to submit this edit being an advertisement for the lottery doesn't help my opinion of RationalWiki (though of course advertisements are much more understandable then the strangeness of the content on the page).

I kind of agree and disagree. I believe the point was the superfluousness of having a smartphone app for something like a laundry ball (it's like having a smartphone app for your dish sponge), and really, it's just one line. But I do agree it does sound a bit odd given the context so I'll reword it. Thanks for pointing it out -- the wiki has a LOT of articles and is growing daily, as such edits on smaller articles can get overlooked.
On a side note, I believe captcha advertisements are based on your location and browsing habits (much like banner ads), so RWMedia doesn't have much say on it. ℕoir LeSable (talk) 04:08, 25 April 2015 (UTC)
