pseudo scientific?[edit]

Shamanism doesn't pretend to be a science, or make scientific claims, therefore it's not pseudoscientific. It's a religion. Totnesmartin (talk) 18:27, 4 February 2010 (UTC)

"Use of the archaic techniques of ecstasy that were developed independent of any religious philosophy—the empirically validated, experientially operable techniques that produce ecstasy." - That sounds like they're arguing that shamanism is a medical practice, validated by experiment, devoid of religion. And it's being promoted more and more as a form of "spiritual healing" and holistic "medicine." --Irrational Atheist (talk) 18:36, 4 February 2010 (UTC)
Aha. that ref's definition of ecsasy is a bit crap though! Totnesmartin (talk) 18:40, 4 February 2010 (UTC)
