Talk:Stigmata
"They're a psychosomatic condition: if a person has strong enough faith in their relationship with God, and wants to have stigmata strongly enough, their body may respond with physical symptoms." —[1] Are we suggesting that one seriously? Because that's woo-ier than homeopathy. Belief can't make external wounds spontaneously appear on your body any more than believing you're a cat makes you grow cat ears.

- Absolutely right. I know that first hand (well, I don't believe I'm a cat, but you get the picture). I think that we meant that their bodies may respond with non-external wound type reactions. --"CURtalk 20:57, 8 February 2009 (EST)
- Could you clarify what "non-external wound type reactions" are? It still sounds awfully woo-y.

- Possibly pains, aches, itches. --"CURtalk 21:07, 8 February 2009 (EST)
- Well, the whole idea of stigmata is that it's an external wound, so I don't think simply feeling pain qualifies.

(EC)It's a theory that's been proposed many times (e.g. see [2],[3],[4], results of a quick Google search). It might not apply so much to the open-wound cases, more to examples involving bruising & lighter marks. Feel free to refute it. Щєазєюіδ

- Where can I find me one of those Jesus shaped laser guns? Very useful for door to door religion salesperson avoidance, I would think.... Sightblinder 20:46, 9 February 2009 (EST)
[edit] Purpura
Why would purpura appear only on the hands and feet, and nowhere else on the body?
