Removed content[edit]

I just removed, "Of course, this is a common fallacy, since disproving a negative cannot be done," because it is bullshit. The common fallacy here is the nonsense that "disproving(sic) a negative cannot be done." (The author meant to say "proving a negative cannot be done.")

I left the slightly less bullshitty claim that the burden of proof is on the theist, not the atheist. Each person is required to prove his claim and so, if you claim, "God does not exist," then you need to provide an argument which establishes this claim. There is no asymmetry in the burden of proof. (Doubt I'm right? Find a single reputable text which argues that so-called positive claims have a disproportionate burden over negative.)

Sorry, but these misconceptions are commonplace and frustrate the hell out of me. Phiwum (talk) 11:25, 20 September 2013 (UTC)

Strange Fire Conference[edit]

Todd Friel was responsible for finding Youtube video clips of Charismatic happenings for the Strange Fire Conference so the Pastors could each criticize the horrible behavior. This reveals more of Todd Friel's beliefs considering Pastor MacArthur and the other Pastors at Strange Fire. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S3_vli3t7Ds http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sWykSkGNOdU

  • The Pastors at Strange Fire are TULIP/5 Point Calvinists.
  • Most of the Pastors at Strange Fire are Reformed Baptists, a denomination that Wiki says has 16,000 people.
  • The Pastors at Strange Fire are Dispensationalists. This idea divides Church History. In this particular Conference they are Hyper-Dispensationalists in that they have created another Dispensation called, "The Apostolic Age."
  • The Pastors at Strange Fire are Strong Cessationists. This means that any any Sign Gifts that are recorded in Romans 12 and 1 Corinthians 12 ceased at the End of The Apostolic Age, around 100 AD. This Strong Cessationism believes that “Visions, Revelations, Voices from Heaven, Messages from the Spirit…,Dreams, Speaking in Tongues, Prophecies,…Anointings, Miracles, ALL LIES, ALL FALSE, ALL DECEPTION.” - "The Modern Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit" by Pastor John MacArthur

The goal of this Strange Fire Conference and the choice of video clips by Todd Friel was:

  • To keep the Reformed, Cessationist beliefs alive.
  • To sell Pastor John MacArthur's book, "Strange Fire - Counterfeit Worship."
  • To stop Contemporary Music, such as "Jesus Culture," (Todd Friel picked video clips of their songs and their Church, Bethel Church, Assembly of God, in Redding California. To stop Hillsong is another group mentioned.
  • To stop all the "evil" false Charismatic gifts.
  • A declaration was made by Pastor John MacArthur that ALL practicing Charismatics and Pentecostals are Not Saved.

Keep in mind that Todd Friel actually chose the video clips to be criticized by the Pastors and himself. He ends the second one with the statement not to attack the Pastor or Teacher, some might say that this is exactly what was done at this Conference. Easeltine (talk) 21:57, 5 December 2013 (UTC)

Conference with Pastor John MacArthur[edit]

Clarification of statements made from Eastline:

  • Reformed Theology is typically well outside of just the name of "Reformed Baptists." A larger percentage of Baptist denominations have mostly Reformed Theology as well as many Presbyterian (PCA not PCUSA) are also Reformed in their Theology.
  • Reformed Theology does not need to be kept alive, it is highly biblical and mainstream. Cessationist beliefs are also solid and do not need a conference to keep them "alive."
  • It was stated that "A declaration was made by Pastor John MacArthur that ALL practicing Charismatics and Pentecostals are Not Saved." This is true and one would listen to the entirety of comments from Pastor MacArthur, you would note that this is also true for many practicing Baptist, Catholics, etc. This is a biblical statement that was also made by Christ to those that followed him. Not all who say they are followers are indeed followers.

Clarification[edit]

Something needs changing with 'God had Elisha send bears to sick 42 children.'

Is 'wretched' an apt description of the viewpoint promoted? 31.51.113.42 (talk) 11:48, 31 December 2016 (UTC)

Sending 42 she-bears to rend the children limb from limb is indeed wretched, among other things. Notice it's God who makes it happen too, not Elisha. Reverend Black Percy (talk) 13:37, 31 December 2016 (UTC)

Readers beware[edit]

This "article" much like the "news" of today is less factual and more of an opinion piece. While shrouded in facts, the author inserts way too many beliefs and opinions to get any real information about the person for which the article is meant to represent. — Unsigned, by: 204.93.100.99 / talk

You know, given the content of your comment, i.e. "stern disapproval" and "tsk tsk"ing, so much so that it might have served you position better if you had said nothing, I very much doubt anyone interested in a critical viewpoint will be swayed by your comment. ☭Comrade GC☭Ministry of Praise 17:40, 10 July 2019 (UTC)
