Talk:WIGO4R
From RationalWiki
I think WIFR is a little odd, WIGOFR or WIGO4R or wigonazi would be a better "quicklink"... human

- I like WIGO4R myself. I summons the ancient spirits of Consensus to aid me!— Unsigned, by: 85.25.151.22 / talk / contribs 15:49, 8 May 2008 (EDT)
- I used "WIFR" because it evoked a soft and fluffy impression in me, so I thought it poetically ironic. I also wanted to avoid including "WIGO" in the acronym, because we already have a WIGO, and I felt reusing it, even with an extra letter or two tacked on, would be confusing. --

- WIFR itself is quite confusing. What Is Fourth Reich? The answer is educated stupid.— Unsigned, by: 85.25.151.22 / talk / contribs 16:05, 8 May 2008 (EDT)
- What about GOFR, for "Goings-on in the Fourth Reich"? It breaks from the "WIGO" pattern. --

- I liked the WIGO pattern. When CP dies and we start taking on every other fish in the pond, are we gonna use a new phrasing each time?— Unsigned, by: 85.25.151.22 / talk / contribs 16:11, 8 May 2008 (EDT)
- I suppose not. Hm. Considering that, I'll support a WIGO-based pattern from now on. --

- Back, opaque beast, back! Or I shall summon the almighty Susan, feared slayer of nonsense! --
Radioactive Misanthrope 17:38, 8 May 2008 (EDT)
- Oh, I'm disappointed now. I thought you came up with the lovely phrase "back, fell beast" yourself. You cheater. And you can't fight my nonsense forever! Riverrun, past Eve and Adam's! A certain number of Quarks for Muster Mark!— Unsigned, by: 85.25.151.22 / talk / contribs 17:42, 8 May 2008 (EDT)

So, wigo - fr, 4r, or -nazi? wigo4r and wigofr are both easy to type... human

- I support WIGOFR, because the "gopher" on the end is almost amusing. --
Radioactive Misanthrope 17:30, 8 May 2008 (EDT)
- I must admit, I like WIGO4R a little more. The presence of the number four reminds you what it means, where WIGOFR might seem perplexing if you're new here.— Unsigned, by: 85.25.151.22 / talk / contribs 17:42, 8 May 2008 (EDT)
- What would make more sense is to wait and let an abbreviation develop organically. If and when one does, make a redirect for it. human

How about a simple cp:WIGO, mp:WIGO, cw:WIGO, etc? NightFlareSpeak, mortal 18:15, 8 May 2008 (EDT)
- That'll get too confusing. Most of us don't even type out Conservapedia, RationalWiki, and Wikipedia anymore, you just use CP, RW, and WP (respectively). The point being, in common conversation, no one will bother tacking the namespace on the beginning, even in abbreviated form, and we'll have endless bits of conversation going something like, "On WIGO..." [other person checks the WIGO they're most familiar with] "Wait, which WIGO?". --

- This one is wigo mp & sf & whatever other nazis we run into though. What would make more sense is to wait and see if it survives til, say, next week (as an active project), see if we can figure out a good namespace for it (if it deserves one), and then derive a wigonym from that. Basically I think this particular redirect is pointless and should be deleted. human

- I second the gentleman from New Hampshire's motion to delete the redirect in question. But keep the talk page to inflate my most linked-to page count : ) --
Radioactive Misanthrope 19:21, 8 May 2008 (EDT)
- Yes, I agree with keeping the talk. Keep it right here? human
19:26, 8 May 2008 (EDT)
- I think we should keep it here for now, then later move it to whatever acronym emerges organically. --
Radioactive Misanthrope 19:48, 8 May 2008 (EDT)
- That makes sense. I'll go look for in-links & vape it for now. human
