Prophecies of Gildas[edit]

From one of Wulf Ingesunnu's additions to the group's Wikipedia article:

The Hooded Man Prophecy was given in a dream to Wulf Ingessunu on October 31st 1993 and is the basis of the teachings of Woden's Folk. This prophecy is an altered version of the Prophecies of Gildas which appeared in the "Robin of Sherwood" TV series of the 1980s. In the Days of the Lion, spawned of the Evil Brood, The Hooded Man shall come to the forest. There he will meet with Herne the Hunter - Lord of the Trees - to be his Son and do his bidding. The Power of Light and the Power of Darkness shall be strong within him. And the guilty shall tremble!

I'm kind of intrigued by these "prophecies of Gildas" and where they originated. At first I assumed that they were written by the historical Gildas and happened to be used in the Robin Hood show that Ingesunnu mentioned, but on doing research it seems that they may actually have originated in the TV series. This Wodenist group appears to be using the plot of an eighties TV show about Robin Hood as part of its theology.

Can anyone clear this up? Baljit (talk) 16:02, 6 August 2011 (UTC)

Well, if you need a source for cryptic oracular pronouncements, TV is at least as good as tea leaves. --Gulik (talk) 06:44, 15 February 2012 (UTC)
This would not surprise me at all. The more crankish a Wotanist group is, the more tenuous its grasp on Norse mythology seems to be. Mjollnir.svgListenerXTalkerX 06:58, 15 February 2012 (UTC)
