[[Heartland Institute]] FYI

Jump to navigation Jump to search

I quoted the blogs about the Heritage Institute budget on the page. They issued a general legal threat in, of all places, press release: "The individuals who have commented so far on these documents did not wait for Heartland to confirm or deny the authenticity of the documents. We believe their actions constitute civil and possibly criminal offenses for which we plan to pursue charges and collect payment for damages, including damages to our reputation. We ask them in particular to immediately remove these documents and all statements about them from the blogs, Web sites, and publications, and to publish retractions." Sounds like denialist overkill, but you're in charge. Rid?

Bluster and bluff. Even in the most favourable sense they have to directly contact us with a take down request, a press release is not a legal request.

Seems deleted now. Shame, I thought we could do with another notch in the bedpost, it's been a while.

Scratch that, found the release. Amused by the use of "total fake" in an apparently formal setting.

If they actually bother going after anyone, it'll be DeSmog.

DeSmog is also the most likely to keep it up the longest.
