Last e-mail thread's getting too big
e-mail, e-mail, e-mail, i made you out of clay. and when you're finished baking, with e-mail i will play.
(wow, the songs that infected our minds in elementary school.
I may have just ruined your love of reading things, for the rest of your life, but it's on its way.
I sent you two separate ones so the topics don't get mixed together.
Got the other oen, too. replied in a typical short and to the point, Godot styel. ;-) (as if).
Someday, i want to ask these types why they need to attack religion, rather than just praise atheism.
We attack religion because the Religious Right harms people and that’s just one example.
... Prox, have you ever even encountered a raving fundamentalist in the flesh before?
I've encountered raving fundamentalists in the flesh, some of them hurt me in the name of Jesus. I know that kind can do more harm in places like the US Bible belt than they do in the relatively secular UK. I fight them to reduce the harm they do.
Are emails still dropping in the junk folder or are people seriously at the stage where they check RW more frequently than their inbox?
Actually, it occurs to me that the email address I have assigned to RW gets checked very infrequently as I almost exclusively use by work one. So indeed, I check RW more often than I check the old Homtail account.
Unless my phone chimes I ignore my inboxes in general.
my husband set that up for me, cause i ignore my mail box way too much. so now the phone says "hubby", and i know to go get the mail, or choose to ignore him. ;-)
Mine just chimes unless it is spam or people I filter. Sometimes my spam folder contains the most intresting things.
For me, it plays the Final Fantasy victory fanfare in the middle of the night, which means an undergrad needs help with their homework.
Hum.... that i'd have filtered out! ;-) Mine intentinally is quite except for those I choose that I want to hear from. My work account is the other way, i set it to chime except for those I know are stupid.
I'm not really into being "beckoned" though. I don't answer my phone if i'm doing something (to my hubby's uber frustration), i call them back when I want to talk. I don't check email at the chime unless i'm bored and around here or facebook, or waiting for something. I take 10 minutes every 4 hours to check business mail. it's actually more productive that way.
I used to refresh my inbox excessively, but that got old fast. I filter people I don't like, such as whiny people asking what the homework answers are and blood relatives. Really really need to contact me: skype/gchat/phone. Though some people here respond to emails in literally seconds, others rarely respond at all.
I have this mail linked to my personal e-mail, which is on my phone, but I never log into anymore since all my mail seems to go to my work account.
so this is the fastest way to get me. :-) sad, huh?
Really wish we had an app. Phone editing anything but roll back, block, and LQT is nigh impossible.
does it now? :-) That must be inconvienant. almost as much as getting an email every time someoen posts on your wall. ;-)
What wall? I'm not allowed to post things on my wall, that would violate my lease. ;}
ohhhh leases. God how i love owning. Took me nearly 40 years to own, and it's nothing fancy, just a town house (someone else still does my yard, yeah!), but I get the joy of painting when i want, or putting up shelves, or changing fridges, owning whatever damn pet the law allows... it's such heaven!
There's some sort of weird molding I can hang things off of, but I don't have a ladder. Hey, at least I didn't have to pay for fixing the torrential rainstorm in my closet. Stupid 69 year old plumbing.
so is there anything left that is truly disgusting, that hte land lord hasn't or wont' deal with?
The neighborhood as a whole is terrible, and the landlord refuses to do anything about it.
Well, an artist was randomly gunned down last year, so... enh?
Really busy today. not that you can tell. I'd vent about old men not knowing how to use a computer.
I was just told to ADD on a printing calculator, the numbers that WERE ALREADY IN A SPREAD SHEET cause he didn't trust the spred sheet. not the typist, which given it was me, would have been a reasonalbe fear, but the software that adds things.
He also cannot "see" a window in his computer. He does not grasp that the box is not part of a single image, but is infact an entity of it's own. and you can have 1 or 10 or 1000 of them on your computer screen and once, and nothing bad will happen (other than blowing up your processor, but i digress).
I asked him to "close the window and open up X", and he really could not understand what I meant. He was looking at it, but did not "see" it.
Inform him that the machine spirit has been corrupted and we must restart the logic engine so the cogitator can resume collating.
He really is like Dilber's boss. cept it's not for lack of trying.
What's ironic is in the 80's he build several computers from "scratch". and he is very copecetic with non gui dos type commands, cause they are very liner. "print doc x to site y". vs, "drag that icon here" (what icon? where is here? how do you drag?)
I didn't really get how much the concept of a "windwo" is perception.
Great moments in wtfery: some guy melts a candy bar on his motherboard, asks us to fix it.
IT guys walk into an office to tell people that there was a server crash and if they want to keep on working they'll have to restart their computers. Half the office just hit the off-button on their monitors...
...wait how the fuck do you melt... never mind. It's like the "why is there a miniature brass sculpture of Napoleon stuck in your arse".
Pre fan cpu's. We worked at a high school, one day the boss had enough and had all the 486's around the school confiscated and destroyed. This was in 2007.
c2000, i had a part time job doing "test" of software. we were in a section beside the complaint and help desk.
The single biggest complaint was AOL users. The did not know what a "link" was, or what clicking was, or how to cut and paste, so teh line "AOL users will want to cut and paste the link below and paste it into the address bar of the browser" meant nothing to them.
"How to i get to the site?"
I hope to god AOL is gone.
ah, but is it really fun, or more shit that's going to piss me off. hehehehe
by the way, if you do more than 5 FIRST TRIMESTER abortion (medical included) in a year, you are a HOSPITAL! yeah.
Ohhhh to my venting at some idiot who was being a jackass? Lol. Sometimes, poor friend, you get my generic ass rants. you can always dump them. :"-)
Is that the mail I already replied to? or another one. Vent vent vent.
It's so long cause i'm just fucking uber awesome. ;-)
ohhh "inboxen". We are making a list of words for Vagina, that the Right might approve of, on a friend's blog. "inboxen" sounds almost sexy.
A fat lady’s hairy vagina can be known as a Wobbie. At least one Christian fundy thinks that term’s OK as A username though I guess he doesn’t know what it can mean. Awobbie’s contributions show he’s a fundy.
And then there's Woobie = somebody you want to give a big hug, wrap in a blanket and feed soup to when he or she suffers so very beautifully.
In a Warner Brother's cartoon serries, maybe 10 years ago... with "teen" knock off of the main characthers, there was one clip that broke my heart - clearly a woobie moment.
The cat character (the cousine of Silvester, i think) had a ribbon that was virtually alive in the wind. It was "teasing" the cat, and they were playing together, and it "petted' the cat while it flew in the wind... but then the wind died, adn the ribbon "died". the cat pawed at it, sooooo sad. (I cried, stupidly).
but it is all alright, the wind picked up and brought the ribbon back to life.
woobies are the best manipulators!
oh goodie, more mail AND a record! which record, though? i'm partial to Floyd or Zep.
oh goodie, more mail AND a record! which record, though? i'm partial to Floyd or Zep.
ok! gonna walk on my twisted foot to get some drugs. something seems so veyr wrong with that.
besides the social amusement of seeing a 200 lb woman on a bike, i don't think that would help the ankle. It was a toss up between "walking but having drugs", or staying at home with pain. It's just one block. but we'lls ee...
Browser hung up when I sent the last one out, so I resent.
Hey, if there's behind-the-scenes bitching to be done, I demand to be CC'd!
conted unoriginal. heh. i love your summaries. i'm knee deep in elections right now, just to warn you. I'm sorta around when i need a break, and working the rest of the time. sleep is a luxary!
I have sent an email of inestimable value. What's a little sleep in the face of adorable kittens?
Mine is shaved. so short and stubby. very wierd to pet mine. (something called a "lion's cut".)
mine has no teeth anymore. I had them removed. I'm sure Akin is glad to hear it)
He's an old old old cat. and his teeth were so bad, teh vet pulled all of them on Monday. While he was under, they shaved his coat off, cause he hadn't been grooming and it was a mess. but today he groomed for the first time in months!!! :-) So it's good for him. he looks funny when he yawns.
He sounds happier and healthier! That's always good.
I still haven't gotten to mail. it's crazy here. but i'll get there, and later send out pics of him all nekid!
That's fine. Your work sounds exciting, so I don't begrudge it. Looking forward to seeing your bald kitteh.
It was, until about like 10 minutes ago. we just read that Personhood Colorado is suing to put their damned question on the ballot. And while that's stupid for lots of ideolgical reasons, the ballots go to final proof Tomorrow. Then BY LAW, they go to the printers mon - wed, to be slotted into the printing schedule.
Each ballot is individual. printed individually with your name on it, and your specific issues (ie., 12 state issues, but you might have a local fire dept that I don't have). There is no room for a "wait wait, we want in too" on this game.
this will quite literally cost millions to do, and might not be possible, given the time it takes to print and mail ballots.
