This is a proposed rewrite for the Bill O'Reilly article.

"Tide comes in, tide comes out, never a miscommunication" —O'Reilly on why God exists

William James O'Reilly, otherwise known as Bill O'Reilly, or Billo by his critics[1], is an American political pundit and the host of the rodeo show The O'Reilly Factor on the Fox News channel which managed to become the most-watched cable news show. O'Reilly is known as a conservative in the media, although he allegedly holds an objection to the death penalty, though he has commented on wanting the government to kill several people on The Factor.[2] He identifies as a "traditionalist" or an "independent" and claims he has no affiliation with the Republican Party, although his leanings would identify him as a solid Republican. He also has an affiliation and friendship with former circus clown and now crazy wingnut Glenn Beck, although not going to the same extreme. He also is the author of nine books, including a memoir, and hosted The Radio Factor until early 2009.

[edit] Broadcasting Career

Early in his broadcasting career, O'Reilly worked for WNEP-TV in Scranton, Pennsylvania, as a reporter and anchor. He also worked at several other local stations and won local Emmys for his coverage on skyjacking. He also worked at CBS and left in a debate about uncredited use of footage. He also worked at ABC. In his work in the Inside Edition, a tabloid program, he was known for being an arrogant loudmouth. In one instance, he could not close a recording of his show and yelled at the anchor with such genius as "FUCK IT, WE'LL DO IT LIVE!". Later in his career, he tried to use his Inside Edition bout as "credible journalism", and how he "won a prestigious award" he never received. He quit and began hosting his own show, The O'Reilly Factor.

[edit] The O'Reilly Factor

Main Article:The O'Reilly Factor

O'Reilly began hosting the program in 1996. It is a political opinion program known for its "lack of bloviating and spin, and the show's pithiness". It is a conservative opinion program, like all appearing on Fox News. O'Reilly debates with guests on current events and pop culture. He is notorious for unethical debate tactics, such as interrupting and cutting off people of opposing viewpoints[3], cutting their microphones, only allowing his own opinions to be heard, and to give someone he unfairly treated a 5-second "last-word". It is currently the top-watched cable "news" program, probably because it is more interesting than the dull CNN stuff and the unpopularity of the extreme left-wing wingnuttery on MSNBC. O'Reilly makes sure to bloviate and spin and makes sure no one else can. Critics also point out his use of vulgar and sexual content on the program in his pop culture sections and his crude "viewer warning" he issues. He then plays the smut on a "family-friendly" program and debates it with some social conservative group. Of course, he yells. And he spends the last few minutes of the program to advertise his merchandise on his website. All in all, he is a bully and a lying hypocrite.
