My mother-in-law is awesome. Not only does she make a bitchin' curry, but also has the largest collection of completely insane superstitions ever created. Here is a small selection of them:

  • Poking someone with a broom handle on a Sunday is bad luck
  • Leaving one (or both) of your shoes upside down will cause you to have an argument with your mother (presumably true, if she hates shoes being left untidily)
  • Passing the salt directly to someone is bad luck. If someone asks for the salt, you have to put it down next to them
  • If someone sneezes before you are about to leave the house, everyone has to sit back down for 5 minutes (very annoying when you want to go out and multiple people have a cold)
  • Pointing directly at someone or something is bad luck, but this can be remedied by leaving your finger fully curled when pointing
  • Cutting your nails just before going to bed is bad luck
