Female Sex Myths and Woo[edit]

A lot of female sex myths are about the existence of certain naughty bits, like the clitoris and g-spot.

The Clitoris[edit]

The clitoris is an organ among the female genitalia that is formed from the same tissues that would become the glans and upper shaft of a penis if the embryo had been exposed to, or responded to androgens (masculinizing hormones). While its male counterpart has the triple function of providing a conduit for eliminating waste, delivering sperm to the female, and being a source of pleasure when stimulated, the clitoris is unique among sensory organs in that it has no other function (as far as is known) other than to stimulate pleasure centres in the brain. It is larger than formerly thought, extending internally around both sides of the uterus, and possibly also defining the mysterious "G spot".[1] Despite this, it is still, although less so than formerly, a mystery to many males, and until the sexual revolution of the 1960s was largely unknown to them.

It can be supposed that women through the ages have known about the "little button" but have never been able to publicise its presence due to sexual repression. Despite being far smaller than the male glans, the clitoris contains about 8,000 nerve endings, compared to only 4,000 nerve endings in the business end of the penis. This probably says something about whether or not women should find sex enjoyable.

Female genital mutilation[edit]

For more, see the main article

Mutilation of the classically female genitalia, involves removing the clitoris (and possibly also the inner labia, and even also the outer labia. It has been widespread in Africa, the Middle East, and (considerably less frequently) in South America, India and Indonesia. It is often justified on grounds of beauty.[2] There are a lot of weird bullshity ideas on the topic, which is why we have a whole article on the topic.

Cunnilingus[edit]

Cunnilingus is oral stimulation of the female genitalia. Not to be confused with Noam Chomsky - a cunning linguist - this is as good as it gets for all concerned.

There is a general idea that sex is enough to get women off[3], but actually, most women will only get off from oral sex. Sadly, this erroneous concept lowers the quality of sexual relations for large numbers of men and women alike.[4]

There's also a bit of bullshit on cunninglus when during "that time of the month". You know the time right? When a woman is visited by her aunt Flow, because she's having her period.[5] Basically, a woman who is menstruating is apparently so weird and disgusting that some people decided the act needs its own name[6]

The G-Spot[edit]

The G spot is an erogenous zone of particular sensitivity on the anterior wall of the vagina.

There is substantial controversy in published literature about its possible location, and also its very existence. Apparently, there is no cluster of nerve endings in any part of the vagina, and no large[7] sample studies have been done to determine the existence or location of the G spot the largest study so far has come up negative.[8] Most of the evidence for it seems to be anecdotal at best, often regurgitated as plain fact by TV "sexperts".

A host of toys of bizarre shape have been made with the intention of "stimulating" the G spot, though most look like they'd do better for picking something out of a giant's teeth.

Whether or not proved - and studies on this sort of thing are, to say the least, difficult to conduct - a highly sensitive region in the area claimed for the G spot does exist,[9] with varying sensitivity from woman to woman. This may be the explanation for why some women can and some women cannot seem to find one, and may be down to luck and genetics, rather than diet, poor performance on behalf of their partner or any other woo explanation. In short, a "G-spot" may be nothing more than the sexual equivalent of having a particularly ticklish spot in one place, but not another.

Male sex myths and woo[edit]

Penis Size[edit]

The curious thing about the human penis is that sexual selection seems to have favored an unusually large penis[10] (perhaps a result of obligate bipedalism?); the human penis is, in proportion to the size of the body, one of the largest of all mammals, and certainly the largest among primates. Nevertheless, a perception in modern times (not necessarily echoed by ancient fashion) is that bigger is better, and as a general rule human males are never really satisfied with what they have. Therefore a large industry in sham "male enhancement" products has sprung up. While the ads for products such as Enzyte (one of the most visible and lucrative of such products) tend to imply that they increase penis size, such mainstream ads are usually quite vague about what they're actually supposed to do, also hinting at increased stamina or staying power. (Email spam ads are rather less subtle.) Mechanical techniques, including subcutaneous fat injection by a surgeon or jelqing (essentially attempting to slowly stretch the penis) are used as well, but are considered of dubious efficacy. Those who fear they suffer from small penis endowments are generally encouraged to practice their skills in table manners and tools of trade. So is everyone else.

As for the statistical reality behind human penis size, the consensus among reputable studies (not self-reported) is that the mean human erection is approximately 5.1-5.9 inches (12.9-15 cm) in length with a 95% confidence interval of 4.23-7.53 inches (10.7-19.1 cm).[11][12] The LifeStyles Condoms Average Penis Size Survey gives an average erect penis girth of 4.972 inches (12.63 cm). Standard deviation was 0.508 inches (1.29 cm) or with 53.33% of the effective sample measuring between 4.725 inches (12 cm) and 5.118 inches (13 cm).[13] The average range of flaccid (limp, cold and/or soft) penis length was 3.4-3.7 inches (8.6-9.3 cm). [14]

More on size[edit]

Simple statistics predict that exactly half of all men will have a penis that is below average size (just as half will be larger - ignoring, of course, the men that are exactly at the median). Some men tend to compensate for feelings of inadequacy regarding the size of their member by carrying absurdly high caliber pistols, or buying very "large", powerful vehicles, like Hummers. Everyone enjoys a Hummer during sex.

The Male G-Spot[edit]

It is claimed that males have a G-spot as well—in their anus. This raises interesting questions in religious arguments that claim that sodomy is bad and that the human body is intelligently designed

Sex myths and woo[edit]

Sexual intercourse is a polite term for fucking. Though it does feel reallllllllyyy good, the primary function in a biological and evolutionary sense, is to make babies. In heterosexual intercourse, the sperm from the penis enters the vagina if protection isn't used, which could lead to a pregnancy if the sperm reaches the woman's egg in the fallopian tubes. Homosexual intercourse does not have such messy outcomes, although you run the risk of being shouted at by homophobes.

Why Christians fear the penis and vagina[edit]

As can be seen by illogical conservative support of abstinence-only sexual education, conservatives fear their children might learn about penises and vaginas. Fortunately for conservatives, America has the world's highest teen pregnancy rate[15] which proves that America's children know very little about human anatomy and birth control, proving that abstinence-only sexual education is working.[16]

Use in traditional America[edit]

Originally named Cross Keys, a village in Pennsylvania, popular with the Amish, in 1814, was renamed "Intercourse". In early 19th century usage, "intercourse" referred to nonsexual social interaction. [2] Another possible explanation is that the village may originally have been called "Entercourse", to refer to a nearby racecourse.[17] It should be noted that Intercourse is not far from the village of Blue Balls, Pennsylvania, which may be a commentary on the sense of humor of Pennsylvania Dutch settlers.

Christmas and sex[edit]

A lot of Americans do it over the Christmas holiday, people tend to like it just then, this could be a seasonal effect or due to the warm fuzzy holiday feeling. [18] Serious scientific research is possible here. Comparing birth statistics and figures for condom sales[19] in the Northern hemisphere eg USA, Canada, UK with similar statistics for countries with similar cultures in the Southern hemisphere eg Australia, New Zealand could indicate which factor is more important.

Sodomy Myths and woo[edit]

Sodomy is participation in any sexual act other than straight, Christian God-loving man on straight, Christian God-loving woman in the missionary position for the express and only purpose of making more little straight, Christian God-loving babies.

Sodomy is not only legal, but a whole lot of fun. Sodomy can come in many varieties, including fellatio and furrylingus, but is usually thought of as only referring to anal sex, also known as buggery. Performing acts of sodomy makes one a sodomite.

Anal sex[edit]

Anal sex is the act of stimulation or penetration of the anus for sexual pleasure. This is mostly accomplished through the stimulation of the back part of the prostate or clitoris. Some people like it, some don't. [20] We'd recommend going to sex education for better references on the subject though.

Sadly, Max Hardcore never could find the right hole.

Hints and tips for anal[edit]

For now, we'll just remind you: Things can get torn up in there. Lube up, communicate clearly, stop if it hurts - and stop if your partner asks you to - and don't ever stick anything that just came out of a butthole in a mouth or a vagina. That's only for porn stars who can't make payments to their meth dealers.

Anal sex and homosexuality[edit]

Some heterosexuals practice anal sex. Some women who have sex with women, too. And some men who have sex with men. However, many homophobes seem fixated on the idea that anal sex is the big thing about being gay.

Anal sex is common in countries where a girl's physical virginity (hymen) is highly prized everwhere where people have sex. As such unmarried couples sometimes practice it in Muslim and Middle Eastern countries, notably Turkey. because it feels good.

In the UK, buggery (yes, that's an actual legal term) is still technically illegal between a man and a woman although no one is likely to be prosecuted for it. Comedian Stewart Lee actually ran a spoof campaign to legalise it.
