User:PeterL/Floating forest

The concept of a floating forest owes its origins to the need for a young Earth creationist explanation for coal seams and other plant fossils.[1] In short, the hypothesis posits that in the pre-Flood world there existed massive floating forests, which later sank in such a way as to produce any plant-related feature of the fossil record you wished to explain. However, the idea of such a floating forest—sometimes described as being "as large as continents"[2]—is pure creationist pipedream.
