[edit] Hi there earthlings!

Since User:Gooniepunk2010 was so kind to create this user page for me, I feel compelled to write about myself.

I'm a middle-aged lower middle class Dutchman living and working as a programmer in Copenhagen, Denmark, possibly the perfid albion of godlessness in Northern Europe. Sometimes Europeans get confronted with the outskirts of American creationism, something we were hardly aware of in the early eighties, but which gradually surfaced with the advent of internet, and after 9/11 (which you've got the wrong way round, it's 11-9 of course) reached unknown levels when Born-again Christians occupied the White House. Because what the world needed after a religious provocation was precisely someone to swallow it hook and sinker.

I've bought an extra heavy Ikea office chair to make certain I don't pop over each time I read something on Conservapedia or Rapture Ready.

So, now even we European socialist baby-eating commies have to be on the watch that fundies don't silently sneak unscientific balderdash into school curricula. Something which they would find difficult to do in public schools, but in schools with a confessional statute (often still state-funded), it's a lot more murky what precisely the teacher is going to present. What can one expect from a fundamentalist reformed biology teacher who is supposed to teach Darwinian evolution to meet national standards?

I don't think I have a lot to contribute to Rationalwiki as it's very much centered on the American situation. But if I have anything I'll let you know. — Unsigned, by: Draken / talk / contribs

There's a lot of Brits on here and a couple or so Germans, at least one Finn and I think a Hungarian: you're not alone. 21:56, 15 August 2010 (UTC) SusanG Toast

By the beard of the prophet, Paul Wormer was a chemistry professor back in the time when I was trying to read chemistry. It's a small world. Draken (talk) 22:11, 15 August 2010 (UTC)
